Her smile contagious and comforting, her eyes bright and welcoming. Her cheeks flush healthily from work & concentration. Her waist tiny and body muscular from heavy toil and hearty eating. Her laugh is meant to be calm & entice, her beauty to attract.

Radiant on the outside. To the world, she is normal. Happy. Even thrilled to be alive. But behind closed doors, things change. The sparkle in her eyes diminish, her frame becomes sickly frail, her smile disappears & her laugh becomes strained. Her fingers are broken and her skin is gaunt.

Looks may be decieving, but if you're Elena Vinokourov, her appearance meant the difference between life.
