Death.
That's the one word running through my mind constantly. Everyone around me has died and I'm left all alone.....well, not entirely, I have my golden retriever, Lucky.
My Mum, Dad, sister and brother, hell, even my best friend. They have all left me alone on this planet with no one to talk to and no where to go.
At school, I'm the freak whose family is dead, I'm the girl who's always an emotional wreck. In all honesty though, I am all those things they say about me. I have nothing left. My parents died in a car accident last year, my sister died at just 17 from a brain tumour, my brother died a few months ago because of a mugging gone wrong, and my best friend, my salvation on this earth, she died from lung cancer a month ago.
I often sit with Lucky and wonder what my life would be like if none of those things had ever happened to me. I can just picture it.
---------
"Mum, I'm home!" I yell as I walk through the front door of my house. Lucky comes running up to me, barking his little head off jumping up as high as his one year old legs with carry him.
"Wow, calm down there boy." That's my brother Steven, he kisses me on the cheek. "Hey sis, how was school?". I was about to open my mouth to answer when a higher pitch voice interrupted.
"Ugh, don't remind her of that hell hole she calls school, I still don't know why you don't just get home schooled with me Ky. It's so much better, and you can do it in your pajamas!" my bouncy twin Caroline grinned.
"AHHHHH, sweetie, you're home! Well, dinner will be ready in an hour, go wash up and then come down," my mum smiled sweetly at me while my dad just smiled at her from the kitchen doorway.
"Hey Pumpkin". I love my dads smile, so carefree, so happy and alive.

Later on, after dinner, I was in my room all washed up and squeaky clean, when I suddenly just missed my best friend, I sent her a text to come over.
Me: Hey Jess, come over? Miss you:)
Jess: Sure babe, be there in 15 ;)
*******
"The most awesome one of all is here" Jess exclaimed as my bedroom door flew open.
I slowly got off my bed and went to go hug my best friend. "Hey Jess, how's it going?"
"Oh, you know, same old, same old. Now where is that delight-able older brother of yours?" She said with a smirk.
You see, her and my brother have this thing going on, don't ask me about it, because I wouldn't know what to tell you.
"I think know he's in his room, knock yourself out" I smiled as she disappeared down the hall.

--------
For the first time in a while, I smiled in joy.
