Jamie's POV

"Jamie?" A voice called from behind me making me jump slightly and cause the chair I was standing on to rock.

"Y'ello?" I manage to ask after I regain my balance. I don't turn around in fear of losing my footing again and continue to pin up the prices of the merch.

"I was wondering if I could ask a favour."

"Shoot." I say, trying to push the pin into the board.

"Well, will you sing A Part Of Me tonight?"

I halt my attempts of pinning the price and turn hesitantly on the chair to see Ben and Sam leaning on the booth, their eyes pleading. "What? No." I reply like it was the most obvious response.

Ben's shoulders sag slightly and he pouts like the four year old he is. "Please? Hayley can't sing to save her life and she'd laugh in my face if I ask. You're my only hope."

"Why can't you get the audience to sing Laura's parts? That would be cool."

"Well, yeah but they love you!"

I raise an eyebrow at Ben. "They've seen me once in that behind the scenes video of Can't Kick Up The Roots. I'm not exactly world famous. Plus I wasn't even singing. I've never sang."

"You have a good voice though." Sam pipes up causing me to send him a look causing him to close his mouth again.

"Oh, go on Jamie. I will be extra nice to you on this tour."

"You're never nice to me."

"Well I'll try to be."

"Let me think about it. No."

"Please?"

"Nope." I repeat, with a sense of finality to my voice. I spin back to look at the board once more.

"Uh, you're such a spoil sport." Ben groans. The booth creaks and I hear footsteps disappearing down the corridor.

I sigh and try to push the pin into the board again when a cough behind me makes me turn around again. Sam was still leaning on the booth staring at me. "What?"

"I heard you've been talking to Derek." He says nonchalantly.

"Well, what else was I meant to do? Ignore him? We're sharing the same room so that would be weird." I laugh and finally push the pin into the board and take a step off the chair.

"Yeah, I guess." Sam mumbles. I pick up another price off the counter and look at Sam.

"Was there something else? Because the doors open in an hour and I've still not finished nor have I changed into merch."

Sam pauses for a second, his eyes boring into mine before he lets out a breath. "Nope, just think about singing with us tonight."

I can tell that's not what he wanted to say but I choose not to push it. "I've already thought about it. Nope."

*

"Oh, hey Jamie. I've been told to hang with you until the guys start their set." Hayley smiles before sliding behind the counter to stand next to me.

"Oh good! You can wear this then." I grab the new shirt that the boys had just designed and shove it at Hayley along with a different coloured beanie to the one I was wearing.

"Great." Hayley mumbles in a sarcastic tone making me smile. She pulls her jacket off and pulls the top over her head and pops on the beanie.

"Do I look like a groupie yet?"

"You do without that." I respond with a smirk.

"Very funny Jimmy. Right when do the doors open?"

"You know I hate it when you call me that, Harry." I laugh. "They open in about 5 mins. Get ready for the rush!"

"I'm always ready." Hayley laughs before something catches her eye.

"Who's that? He's totally checking you out." Hayley whispers, her gaze focusing on something behind me. I follow it to see Derek, he was standing in the doorway to the pit leaning on the frame, staring directly at me. I sigh and look back at Hayley, her eyes glowing with mischief.

"That's Derek, the lead singer of State Champs." I answer.

"Ooh, first name terms, must be serious."

"Yeah, we're basically married." I respond sarcastically.

"Wow, bitter much? What's your problem with him?"

I purse my lips and look back at Derek. He sends a smile my way and walks through the doors towards the stage. "He just annoyed me, that's all."

"Why what did he do? I'll kill him." I look back to Hayley, my eyebrows furrowed.

"It was nothing kill worthy. He's just generally annoying and that's all I have to say on the matter." I check the time on my phone and see the numbers turn to say 6pm and on cue, the doors open.
