Mark's POV:
"Call from the hospital. Maya's been hurt." Ryan said sheepishly. I stood, frozen in shock. Maya, my light, my happiness. I pictured her bright smile, her natural blush that added to her innocent look. My heart started beating faster. Matt put his arm on my shoulder. "Come on Mark. We'll go with you." I nodded, still in shock, as Ryan and Matt steered me towards the car.

I was silent the whole drive to the hospital. I kept seeing Maya's bright smile and red hair flashing through my head. Each time I pictured her, I started crying harder. I lost it. The tears flowed and my body shook. By the time we got to the hospital I was gasping for breath. We walked in, Ryan with one arm around me, and Matt with one hand on my shoulder. We passed a mirror. My eyes were red and puffy, and my cheeks were shining with tears.

"Maya Smith Fischbach." Matt said to the lady at the front desk. "Room 124." She said and smiled sadly at me. We entered the room and the first thing I saw was three teenagers crowded around the bed. The two boys had black hair and the girl had bright blue hair. Between their heads I saw a flash of red. "Maya." I whispered, and started forward. The two boys turned around and saw me. The taller one's eyes widened, but the shorter one put an arm around the blue-haired girl. The girl turned around then too, and I saw that her face was streaked with tears, just like mine.

I gazed on Maya's still face and a single tear joined the others. The taller boy cleared his throat. I turned to him. "M-Mark Fischbach...?" He mumbled. "That's me." I said through gritted teeth and tears. "I-I'm Maya's boyfriend...I'm so sorry sir, it was my fault. I convinced her it was okay to ride with us, even though the driver was drunk-" As he said "the driver" the girl burst into tears. I saw a crumpled photo of a boy with sandy brown hair and green eyes in her hands.

"What do you mean 'you convinced her?'" I growled. "Our friend, Elliot, the driver, got drunk and I convinced Maya that it was okay to ride with us-"
"You what?!" I yelled. It was only then that I noticed the grip he had on Maya's hand. "Let go of her!" I shouted and shoved him away from the bed. "She's my girlfriend!" He yelled back. "She's my sister!" I screamed as I pushed him into the wall. He glared at me, and then broke down crying. "It's my fault, my fault, he's gone, she's in a coma..." He blubbered as he sobbed. The shorter boy moved to comfort him, but Maya's boyfriend shoved away from him and ran from the room.

"I-It wasn't Kayden's fault." I heard a whisper. I turned and saw the girl looking at me through red eyes. "Maya's in a coma. The driver, Elliot, is dead. Kayden was trying to help me. Elliot was drunk, and he started to beat me up while he was driving..." She paused to wipe her eyes, "Kayden saved me. Charlie," She pointed to the shorter boy, "Saved Maya. She'd be dead too if he hadn't protected her." With that she burst into tears again and walked out of the room. The shorter boy, Charlie, sighed. I noticed that he was crying too. He leaned over to Maya, kissed her forehead, and left.

I stood there, trying to figure out what to do. Maya's in a coma. So she's still technically alive. I crawled onto the bed with Maya, and lay down next to her. I wrapped my arms around her as the tears started to come again. "I'll never let you go, Sweetheart."
