6: Flies

I close my eyes and lightly hum. My eyes flash open, glowing a vibrant teal. Blood drips from the ceiling and lands in front of me. I slowly look up at the ceiling. My heart stops and before I can do anything a loud screech escapes my lips. Fire takes over the ceiling and the blood pours down, drenching my body. I peer through the blood.

"Everyone has it, but no one can lose it."

A strange man wrapped in bandages stands in the door. Not facing me, but the wall. The blood falls harder. The bandages fall off and he turns to me, dirty blonde hair, blue green eyes, burnt skin.

"What do the voices tell you, Tabitha?" His voice still sounds the same. The fire stops and he walks toward me. "What do they say?" I look down before back at the man.

"Coup de foude- lightning strike, love at first sight. I can't tell which one it wants me to know." I shake my head.

"You need both. Both will mean what you need. Now can you answer my riddle?"

"No."

"Coup de foudre."

I run my fingers through my hair before walking to class. I walk to my unofficial assigned seat and sit down. Yet it's still just little old me, in the back hiding from people. I hear a fly buzzing and I look around, nothing. I look back at the board and furrow my eyebrows, numbers appear to be written on the board. My head slightly turns to the side and the buzzing starts again, nothing. I knawl on my thumb nail and the room spins once, the same numbers on the board. 19-28-88. The room spins again. Now the board read 19 K- 28-88. I blink a few times and grab the sides of my desk. The room spins twice. The board reads 19 K- 28 I- 88. I run a hand through my hair and stare at the board, continuing to bite on my nail. Something taps my shoulder and I tense.

"Are you okay?" Sydney asks keeping her voice a whisper.

"Yeah, just tired." I whisper back after nodding. I bring my attention back to the board. 19K-28I-88Ra... Kira. I hear the buzzing and I look around again. I drum my fingers on my desk and blink a few times before tuning into class.

"Any ideas on what that could be?" The teacher asks the whole class. A majority of the class raises their hands and I slightly sink in my seat. "TJ? Do you know?" Everyone lowers their hands and looks at me. I sink more into my seat.

"Do I know what?" I ask in a small voice.

"The side affects of a concussion." Her voices turns to stone.

"Blurred vision, nose bleeds, dizziness, loss of thought, lightheadedness." I name a few. She nods.

"Alright! Look alive people!" I bite my lip and stare at the floor.

"I want this school locked down, no one comes in, no one goes out." Sheriff? What the hell is he doing here?
