Clay's POV
The school was on fire, it wasn't my fault. I wonder what it looks like if I was standing outside. But, of course, I was engulfed in flames, crawling my way to what looked liked a door.
You're supposed to crawl when there is a fire because smoke rises, but I think it's such a bother really, because wouldn't it be a lot more awesome if people had super powers?
Oh! Never mind, that object I thought was a door just crumbled under the pressure of the second floor.
"Great," I thought, "now I have to search for another exit." I didn't even have a few seconds to think before I heard someone scream their ass off. Well, at least someone will be thankful for my existence.
Making my way downtown- wait, sorry. Cautiously making my way towards the distressed maiden, I had to stand up to squeeze between a crack in a wall. There she was! If it wasn't for a window on the opposite side of the room, I wouldn't have been able to pinpoint her exact location.
"Hey!?" I shouted as loud as my lungs would let me, and sure enough she spotted me. "Can you move?!"
"Yeah!"
"Are you hurt?!"
"I don't think so! You?"
"Naw!"
"Ummmmm, there's a window behind me! Do you think we can jump out of it?!!?"
"I'll check!" I didn't hear her, but when I turned her way, she was nodding her head and gave me a thumbs up. She believed in me more than I did and that made me a bit happy.
Without further ado, I sprinted towards the source of light. It didn't look like I was sprinting though, it looked more like I was dancing to one of those songs old Chinese people listen to, it felt like it, too.
I finally reached my destination, but it was out of my reach. "Great." I mumbled to myself. I saw movement in the corner of my sight, it was the girl.
"Any luck?" her voice was quite calm compared to mine.
"Well, we could get out if we could reach it. But, the only things in this room that are not on fire are you and I."
"Maybe one of us could boost the other one up using our hands like in those cool action movies?"
I like this girl already, "It's worth a try, ladies first." I cupped my hand, crossing my fingers, so she could put her foot on them. It wouldn't have been so hard to keep her up if I didn't have trouble breathing, I hope she didn't think I thought she was heavy because I was starting to tremble a little bit. Girls are always sensitive about their weight. (Sorry girls)
She forced the window open, and it felt as if an angel flew past us. Some people must have seen the smoke because I could hear them shouting and I could hear the fire truck's sirens screaming. Did the firefighters know we were in this part of the building and decided to check it last or something?
"There's a trash can that's quite near, if I bring it over I might be able to pull you outside."
If she abandons me she is in for a world of pain, but it was my best bet.
After she escaped outside I heard voices, hers and several men.
"Hey! Are you still there?"
A head popped up from the window, he was wearing a fire-proof helmet, that must be nice. He extended his hand towards me. Am I supposed to hold on to it or? Oh, I am. Dayum this guy is strong, he forever has my respect. After he used his superpowers to pull me out and place me safely on the ground, I immediately collapsed from the lack of oxygen and the buildup of smoke in my lungs. I didn't see that girl's face, that's a let down. I hope I didn't fall in a weird position.
Right, by the way, my name is Clay.
