Chapter one
“Mom, do I have to go to school today? Why can’t I just wait for another week or two.
“Because I want you to at least know two people in school before the weekend”. She looked at me and I knew I had no way of getting out of not going.
“Go and get ready so I can take you to school. Oh, this is going to be so exciting. Us in a new town, a new house, you in a new school, meeting new people. Go, Go get ready”. She exclaimed cheerfully.
I groaned and walked upstairs to my room. I decided to go with some white denim shorts, a navy Hollister tank top and some navy flip flops. I went into my bathroom and brushed teeth and cleaned my face. I didn’t know what to do with my hair so I just decided to straighten it. After I was done I brushed it and made sure it was how I wanted it. I’ve never really had a problem with my hair. It’s just sometimes I think about cutting it but decided against it to let it stay in its place at the middle of my back.
Being the new kid in school is not so bad, it’s just all of the stares and glares you get when you walk into the classroom.
“Okay sweetheart have fun, smile and make a lot of friends. I love You so much honey”. She told me still smiling.
I swear my mom is great but she can get really crazy at times.
“Yeah, I love you too mom. And I’ll try”. I told her just so she can let me get out of the car.
“Okay, Okay, have fun”. She told me as I climbed out of our little Honda Accord.
I was watched as she pulled away from the curb and down the road leaving me feeling nervous and scared. I walked through the front door of the building and followed the arrows posted on the walls to the main office. When I reached to open the for, it swung open and hit me directly in the face making me fall on my butt. I groaned and rubbed my nose while trying to stand up.
“I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hit you. I didn’t see you there.” He apologized.
“Umm no your good. I should have been paying more attention”. I exclaimed as I opened my eyes only to be met with a pair of dark blue eyes that favored the ocean. For a split second it seemed like everything else in the world came to stop as we both continued to stare at each other, that is until he broke eye contact.
“Are you new?”
“Yeah. I was just finding my way to the main office to get my schedule.” I blurted as he continued to stare at me.
“Yeah, I can tell. You would have known that the door I came out is for exits only.” He smiled as he told me this.
“I’ll keep that in mind.” I mumbled as I walked to the door that said ‘Enter’ without once turning back to look at mystery guy.
When I stepped in the office, I was surprised to see everything so clean and organized.
“What do you need Hun.” That was when I noticed I was the only one in the waiting room so she had to be talking to me.
“I’m new and I need my schedule and locker number.” I told her quickly from being nervous.
“Name?” She looked above her glasses to look at me.
“Tamara Cole”
“What a pretty name. Alright Tamara, here is your schedule. I recon you should be heading to second period since the bell is going to ring soon. Here is a map so you won’t get lost. It seems like you don’t have to walk from class to class but be there on time.
She kept talking and talking and I just zoned out completely. I started thinking about the type of people I would meet until the sound of a door chime brought me back to reality.
“Understood?” She looked at me as she waited for me to answer.
“Yes” Wait, what do I understand. I should’ve been paying attention but being me I just have to zone out.
“Good. Here is there person I needed. Josh Hun, Do you mind showing Tamara to her class.” She said in a somewhat flirty way which still made me want to puke.
“Uh sure, No Problem” he smiled politely and held the door open for me.
“Where are you headed to for second period?”
“Chemistry.”
“That’s where I’m headed. I can show you around to the rest of your classes if you want.” He exclaimed looking at me as stared into his ocean eyes.
“Yeah, that’ll be cool.” It came out almost as a whisper but just a teeny bit louder. Why am I feeling this way about him. Focus Tamara, he’s just a guy. He’s just like everybody else.
I was so deep in thought, I didn’t even notice that we stopped.
“This is our stop. Chemistry.”
“Im pretty sure I looked like I was going to puke because he reached to touch my arm. His touch sent heat all the way to my toes. I gasped and he quickly yanked his hand away like he just have been shocked.
“Just take deep breaths and you’ll be fine.” He said as he avoided eye contact.
I knew exactly what he felt. I knew he felt the heat from the connection. Great, my life seems to be getting better and better (note the sarcasm). First I got hit in the head and now this. I blame it all on you mom.
