White Storm instantly took action. He crouched down behind two trees who's roots had grown together. If the patrollers saw me riding White Storm (unsupervised), they would surely take him away from me. Children aren't allowed to ride horses unless they are in the village where they can seek help if the horse was to turn on them.

I gently rubbed White Storms neck and tensed as two big men passed by. I knew I had seen them before, they usually patrolled this dirt path. Patrollers patrolled The empty roads more than they do in the village, mainly because people steal and break rules on the roads more than the cities because they're too afraid. They checked this road often because Mother Snake had been convicted as a thief many years ago. She's always bitter to everyone (except Father), so the patrollers don't leave her out of sight for long.

Once the two men had passed I made sure they were long gone so they couldn't hear me. I glanced at the vast open field of nothing except road in front of me. Sky's house wasn't much less than a mile away.

Once I reached Sky's house, I spotted him on the porch with his little sister. Her name was Lily. She thought of Sky as a god, that's why I swore to her I would protect him for any harm and danger.

When Sky saw White Storm he stood up and jumped off the porch.

"Scarlet, I had a feelin you would stop by." He smiled widely. I nodded. "Wanna go practice? Or are you too busy?"

"Too busy for you? Definitely not! Let's go! I'll go grab Thunder." He sent Lily inside and went towards the back of his house where he kept Thunder. That was his horse.

He came back out a few minutes later, riding on the back of the tall black horse. Thunder was almost as tall as White Storm, but not quite. White Storm bucked and nudged towards Thunder. I let him.

"Got your bow?" I asked Sky.

"Strapped on my back in its holder. You still keep yours in the trunk of that tree? Don't you think one day someone is going to find it and take it?"

"No, most people don't go to a faraway forest and search in random tree trunks. Unless someone sees me, I think I'll be okay."

"you always think, Scarlet. You never know." His face was serious for a moment but then changed into a Cheshire Cat-like smile, and I knew he was just playing around with me.

"well, let's get going." Sky sighed with boredom.

I glanced at Thunder and then White Storm. A mischievous idea came into my mind.

"Wanna race?"
