Evelyn.

Sitting in the room with Zachary and Ethan, Zachary's little brother, i started getting bored.

I kept thinking about the person, the one who sent me texts, claiming they were my father's murderer. Who is he? Why did he do that?

As i felt panic rise through me, drowning me, i asked Zachary where the bathroom is, to calm my nerves.

---

When i came back, Zachary's face was as pale as a ghost - his eyes were wide, lips slightly parted, shoulders tensed, and when i came in, he stared at me as if i had committed a crime.

"Zach, what's wrong?" My voice came out shaky.

He blinked twice before answering, "who is this?" Pointing at my phone screen. I came forward slowly, my heart rate increasing.

Then i realized.

It was the Unknown Number.

"Why did you open it?" I asked sharply, tears stinging my eyes.

He completely ignored my question, his tone cold, "i asked a question."

"I asked too."

"I asked first," he retorted.

"Well, its non of your business," i hissed.

He sighed and ran a hand in his hair.

I checked my phone.

Almost forgot, don't even mention me to your boyfriend. Mwah.

Blood drained from my face as i stared at my screen, frowning.

"Will you tell me?"

I looked at him, my brain debating whether to tell him or not.

"You can trust me, you know," he held my hand, brushing his fingers over mine.

I breathed shakily, heaving a sigh before making my decision; i'll tell him.

"My father was..killed," I blurted. "He didn't just die..." I started and went on telling him everything.

After i finished, tears stained my cheeks, and Zachary had an arm wrapped around me, comforting me. He wiped my tears and asked softly.

"You're okay now, right? You're fine? I'm not leaving your side."

I chuckled at his over-protectiveness and looked up to see him already staring.

"Why are you looking at me that way?" I smiled.

He just chuckled and shook his head, as of shaking a thought away.

"Anyway," he ran his hand in his hair with a sigh. "Were you planning on ever telling me, anytime soon?"

"Honestly," in a small voice, i mumbled. "No."

He chuckled before pressing his lips on my temple, mumbling, "typical Evelyn."

I huffed and texted the Unknown back:

Too late. He already knows. Oops.

I smirked. Two can play this.

Within seconds, the person replied, as of he were waiting for me to text.

Very well, then. We can add him to our little game. Thank your lucky stars i'll let him stay alive. Remember, i can slaughter him within a heartbeat.

I bit my lip as fear washed over me. Zachary probably noticed, since he asked if i was alright.

I showed him and saw that he also turned pale, but quickly covered it.

Things are about to change in my life, apparently.
