Hiccup's Pov;

The weather was cool and brisk, a light layer of frost coating the fallen leaves and branches as I made my way through the forest, my note book and pencil in each hand.

I scanned my surroundings. It had to be around here somewhere, I saw it fall.

Now, I know what you're thinking. 'Why is some incompetent kid running through the forest saying they saw something?'

Let me explain.

(Speech from Httyd, I do not own this.)

This is Berk. It's twelve days north of Hopeless and a few degrees south of Freezing to Death. It's located solidly on the Meridian of Misery.

My village. In a word? Sturdy. And it's been here for seven generations, but every single building is new. We have fishing, hunting, and a charming view of the sunsets. The only problems are the pests.

You see, most places have mice or mosquitoes... we have dragons.

Most people would leave. But not us. We're Vikings. We have stubbornness issues.

My name's Hiccup. Great name, I know. But, it's not the worst. Parents believe a hideous name will frighten off gnomes and trolls. Like our charming Viking demeanor wouldn't do that.

(End of speach)

Killing a dragon is everything around here. But...No one has ever killed a Night Fury. They're as black as night and as deadly as can be. That's why I'm going to be the first. I'm finally going to make my dad proud, I'll be a real viking.

Last night, there was an attack. The dragons raided us and stole our food stock. Houses were destroyed, some people were even killed, one of them almost being me but we won't talk about that.

Last night, I did it. I shot down a Night Fury. I saw its dark figure flying through the sky, I aimed and shot. The dragon went falling down somewhere around here. Just one problem... I can't find it.

Of coarse no one believed that I the weak and pathetic son of the chief could shoot down a Night Fury, let alone any dragon. That's my reputation here. I was tall, skinny, weak and curious, unlike a normal viking with a large build, overwhelming amount of strength and lack of intelligence.

I sighed and crossed off what seemed to be the 100th area I searched in my note book. I guess I really did miss. I closed the book shut, a little aggressively and continued to walk.

They're right, how could I possibly shoot down a dragon. Only thing I managed to do was make a fool of my self, as usual.

I really needed this, to kill a dragon. Then finally people will stop looking at me like a joke, I could even possibly get a girlfriend. I laughed, yeah right, that would be too good to be true.

I hit a branch as I tried to walk passed it, only for it to swing back and hit me in the face. I groaned and touched my hand to the stinging skin.

I looked up at the tree, the trunk was snapped in half and laid partially attached, the rest on the ground. I long skid mark etching its path into the dirt and down the steep hill. My heartbeat picked up, something big had fallen here.

I hurried, maybe a little too quickly, and slid down the hill almost falling a few times. I spotted a black creature wrapped up In rope on the ground. It was un moving so I assumed it was dead. I did it! I really killed a dragon! My thoughts came to an end as I saw a light figure appear from behind the dragon. I quickly hid behind a large rock and peaked out.

I watched as the person, who weirdly had white hair, slowly began to bring his hand down to the dragons head, which I noticed moved slightly. So it was still alive? Were they crazy?! It was going to kill them!
