Today's my third day waking up for school and I do not feel very well. My stomach is turning, my head is aching. What happened last night was the scariest experience I have ever overcame. Mom's door is locked so I guess she overslept. "Time to be a big boy," I thought. I made cereal without spilling any milk on the kitchen counter, this was a major accomplishment considering I am very clumsy. I write a letter on mom's door, reading, "I'm off to skool mom. Cya latur." I grab my bike and ride it to school. As I'm riding, I notice something very odd, the whole neighborhood looks like a ghost town. "Where is everyone? I guess everyone is busy today," I thought. I arrive to school an hour late. Walking into Ms. Sander's class, every student begins to stare at me. "Hi," I said shyly, "sorry I'm late." I sit on my desk and put my head down, shutting my eyes. After a long while Ms. Sanders walks toward my table. "Are you okay?" she asked. I nod. "You don't look so good," she replies, "you may rest through the day." Later, school students are dismissed and I walk out to the front. My mother's van is not parked by the pole as it usually has been. I look around, worried. "Mom must not be feeling very well today." I ride my bike back home. Arriving home, the house is as quiet as still water. You can't hear even the smallest drop of water drip from the kitchen sink. I walk to mother's room, it is unlocked and the note I had written remains on her door step. "Mommy?" I call out, "are you okay?" I slowly open her door and find her sitting on her bed. The room reeks of alcohol. Mom says, "Hi, sweety. Mommy had to go somewhere yesterday, I'm sorry. I didn't mean to upset you." "Mommy, I was so scared," I replied. Mother responds, "I'm so sorry, sweety, I feel terrible." I smile mercifully and exit her room, closing the door behind me. Afterwards I walked to the kitchen and ate the leftover spaghetti mom made the other night. Feeling light-headed, I shower and brush my teeth early, preparing for bed. Darkness floods the sky.
