He grasps my hand lifting me off the ground. In a rush, I was on my feet with my hands on Nikhil's chest, leaning for support.
I immediately remove them, not bothering to look up to avoid another awkward moment between us.
"I didn't sneak up on you. I was opening the backdoorhere" he defends himself emotionless and steps back to reveal an open closet beside the Curtin's. Which inside has a door! This is unanticipated. I mean it's not every day you have a secret exit hidden inside your closet! Why does he need it though?
"We are not going through the front entrance" He instructs firmly.
I nod my head. Relieved, I don't have to enter that party again.
"So, do we just go through the door inside the closet?" I ask him confused.
"No, you jump out the balcony" He snorts amused at my question.
I glare at him and shove past him. I step into the closet and rotate the handle of the door. It opens to reveal a long set of curled steel stairs leading downwards making this room the only stop. I knew it! This is some secret escape exit.
I step down the first set of steps and hear Nikhil's footsteps behind me.
I lean on the railing for support since my back still hurts. I let out a breath and the stinging sensation occurring in my back makes it difficult to continue walking. I close my eyes and my bit my lip to stop the scream of pain.
I feel a warm hand touch my shoulder and goosebumpsarise thanks to the tingles happening in my stomach.
I open my eyes to see Nikhil in front of me concerned "Is it your back?" he questions with guilt plastered in his eyes before it abruptly disappeared.
I nod curtly and shake my head, "it's okay. I'm fine", I manage to let out in a strained breath and Nikhil scoffs.
"Bullshit. No, you're not", he argues and shakes his head.
He lifts me up in bridal form and I let out a loud shriek. Naturally, my hands went to wrap themselves around his neck for support. I gasp when I realized what just happened. Nikhil is carrying me because I was hurt. It's funny how you never really know a person.
I bit my tongue and tilt my head back.
"What are you doing" I let out an angry breath and he ignores me while walking down the stairs.
"You don't need to do this" I whisper in a defeated tone. He ignores me again.
When my eyes wander to look at Nikhil. I see the unclear side profile of his face. We are surrounded in darkness as he continues to carry me.
"Er, why do you have a secret exit in your room?" I ask him as curiosity runs in my brains. I could see him visible harden at my question. But he stayed calm and quiet. I let it go not wanting to pry.
While walking down the last pair of steps, Nikhil turns around to flick open the light switch. Brightness dawns the room and the scene my eyes take in is clear.
We were in a garage with cars. Let me rephrase that a paradise of cars! I let out a low gasp looking at all the beautiful cars. From race cars to range rovers. This garage could be a car show.
"Yeah I know", Nikhil said reading my thoughts.
He makes his way to a yellow Ferrari, opens the door and places me on the seat. His upper body was against mine making me feel all fuzzy. His face was an inch close to mine and I could feel his breath on cheek when he inserts my seatbelt on. He closes the door and sits on the driver seat to start the engine.
