I'm currently in my room finishing the assignment for historical literature. I look over at the time and it's 6:30pm.
My mind wanders off, what am I going to wear at the party? I can't look too uptight or sophisticated. I think I should wear something casual, yet fun. I shut off my laptop and make my way to my closet. I run my hand through the various dresses I own.
I own a lot of dresses, since my dad always had business parties, I thought bitterly. I decide on a dark navy blue dress with an open back and the dress reached right above my knees. This seems appropriate. "I think I can look fun in this.", I say sarcastically.
I go to the bathroom, take a quick shower and come out, wrapped in a towel. I wear my dress and find a pair of nude heels to match my outfit. I keep my hair open rather than a bun to seem less uptight. I look over at the time and it's about 7:30 pm. So, I have an hour and 30 minutes left.
I grab my curling iron and start making loose curls with my hair. After, curling my hair, I ruffle it up to create volume.
I take out my makeup kit and apply eye shadow to create a smokey eye effect making my hazel eyes stand out. Satisfied with my look. I apply some lip gloss making my plump lips shiny and wear a gold necklace that HE got me.
Ok, I'm not going to think about all the conflicts right now and just try to enjoy the party and maintain a good mood.
I make my way downstairs and see mom cooking dinner in the kitchen. Oh right! I forgot to tell her about the party. I tap her shoulder and she looks over surprised.
"Oh, Arohi dear, you look beautiful. I never knew you were going somewhere tonight", she frowns.
"Yeah, sorry about that I forgot to tell you. I'm going to a party tonight with some friends. I will be late", I assure her, feeling guilty that I never told her before. I swear, it slipped out of mind to inform her.
She smiles widely creating wrinkles under her eyes, "Oh no, that is great. You should go out and have fun".
I nod and she pulls me in a hug. I stand there still for a second, but loosen up and give in to the hug. I know the hug is not just a good bye hug. It's much more. The emotions in our embrace get hard for me to handle and I pull away not meeting her eyes.
I hope she's not upset due to my harsh behavior towards everything these days.
I love her with all my life and I hope, she knows that.
I make my way towards the door and sigh putting on my nude heels. I reach over to open the door and Shraddha is there just about to ring the doorbell.
"Oh my god! You look so hot", she squeals excitedly causing me to laugh.
"No, you look hot", I argue and we start laughing. She looks beautiful. Her dark green dress is clinging over her curves making her figure stand out. She is about to ask me something, but I interrupt.
"Come on, we're going to be late", I say closing the door and make my way towards the car. I knew she was going to ask me if my mom is home. But, I'm just not ready to introduce anyone to my mom yet. Or my family.
"Someone is excited for this party", she teases and trails behind me.
I see Raj in the driver seat and he looks towards me and stares for a minute. He coughs and a slight pink color paints his cheeks.
"You look nice", he says awkwardly. I smile and mumble a "thank you".
We quickly sit in the car and reach the party. That was fast or maybe I'm just nervous. Oh god! I hope this does not end up being a disaster. I look at the mansion in front of us and my mouth slightly drops. It's huge! Nikhil must be really rich. It's not a surprise, usually rich kids are arrogant like him.
