Mangle was walking toward the same place she and Foxy first decided to play their game. It seems like it was only yesterday, and time moved so fast. She had fun. Like it was the best time of her life. She didn't thought that someone can actually make her feel so happy. The past week was like a dream to her.
But, the time has come to see if someone really lost in this game of love.
After all, she's going to America for her studies tomorrow. And she will never see Foxy again.
Her footsteps somehow became heavier as she walked closer and heard Foxy's singing voice. It was peaceful. His voice was something she would like to listen to forever. If only she could.
They've come all this way. And they were about to finish this.
She was closer to their meeting place and Foxy's voice, including with the tune of the song 'Let Her Go' resonating from his guitar was heard by Mangle. She stopped on her tracks as she faced the figure of Foxy, eyes closed, and hands gripping tightly on his guitar. Foxy didn't notice her, as he was absorbing the true meaning of the song.
"Cause you only need the light when it's burning low
Only miss the sun when it starts to snow
Only know you love her when you let her go"
This song is Mangle's favorite. Because she knew how hard it is to let go of things she didn't wanted to let go of.
"Only know you've been high when you're feeling low
Only hate the road when you're missing home
Only know you love her when you let her go"
But this time, she didn't have to let go of a 'thing'. She had to let go of a 'person'. And this time, it's not a 'her'. It's a 'him'. And that him...is Foxy Parker.
"And you let her go..."
The song ended and Foxy jumped as soon as he opened his eyes, surprised to see Mangle. "Don't scare me like that!" he told her.
"Sorry..." Mangle told him.
"No need to apologize."
Mangle nodded. They stared at each other intently. What were they supposed to say?
It was a long silence and Mangle decided to sat beside Foxy. She heaved a long sigh. "I guess I'll start since I'm the one who imposed you in this game."
Foxy nodded.
"This past week with you was...even though I'm ashamed to say...it was fun. Hanging out with you Foxy, it was wonderful. I'm truly happy. You were the very first person who saw through my facade of being perfect. Only, I'm not. I do crazy things when nobody is around. And you...you were the witness to them all. And I'm glad it was you. But, you knew the first time I proposed you this game. I believed love was foolish. And we had the same thoughts..."
Mangle looked at Foxy to see what expression he had. But none showed. It was his usual facial expression.
"But...right now. I have another question for you."
"Go ahead and ask," Foxy told her.
"Do you think...people who fall in love easily are fools?" Mangle asked, staring right into his eyes. Foxy blink.
"Why?" Foxy asked back, not answering the question. Mangle had expected that. She closed her eyes.
"Because...maybe I am a fool...for falling in love with you."
"WHAT?!" Foxy shouted at the top of his lungs. He couldn't believe what was happening. Mangle quickly opened her eyes and chuckled at his reaction.
"At the very start of our game, I've already...lost," Mangle told him.
"Y-you mean-"
"Yes. At the very beginning I've started this game and picked you, I was already in love with you. And do you know why asked you if you think love is foolish?" Mangle asked at the gaping wide-opened guy in front of her.
He shook his head.
Mangle smiled. "I've already known about my leave to America for my studies. And before I do leave, I don't want you falling in love with me. Not that you really would," Mangle said as she slightly laughed. "You never did love me romantically, huh? Maybe you did, as a friend. But, Foxy, I'm thankful for all the happy times you've given me. Thank you...for being there for me. Thank you for being a part of this foolish game. I hope we may never cross past each other ever again... Goodbye," she said and abruptly stood up, her back facing him. As she was about to walk away, Mangle felt Foxy's grip on her wrist.
Mangle faced back at him.
"Why...did you cry? Do you...really want to leave?" he asked. She couldn't read his expression for her eyes was now blurry, and tears started to fall. Her heart was feeling painful. It hurt so much that she wanted to end it.
"In the days I spent with you, my feelings grew. I wanted these feelings to stop. I wanted them to end. So Foxy...don't be a player anymore and believe in love. It does exist, deep in your heart. It's my lost. Game over for me. So, just let me go, Foxy."
Foxy's grip loosened and Mangle pulled her hand away from his as she ran as fast as she could, all the tears she had held back flowed through her face.
But...she was relieved. This was now the end of their game. She will never see him again. Never.
. . .
Foxy went down on his knees as Mangle's figure had disappeared from his blury eyes. He was crying non-stop. He couldn't believe himself. He was crying! Because of a stupid girl!
"You idiot, you didn't even asked me how I feel about you. If you want to go to America so badly then I won't hold you back. This game was Game Over for both of us. Goodbye, Mangle."
Reality sank in him. Love, was indeed, painful. And he, too, is a fool.
~End~
...
I'm glad this book was over. It's giving me pain in the heart as I write every word here. So, who's up for an extra chapter? It won't be really happy though.
And, I have a question for you all! Who figured out the meaning in the title of every chapter? ^^\/
