     2 1/2 weeks later

As I entered the gate of the most beautiful place that I have ever seen, I could hear the trumpets. I looked out the window of my carriage, listening to Ash ramble on about guys and soaking up how magnificent the place looked.  It is not like anything I have ever seen before.

"Did you tune me out again?" Ash said bringing me back to reality.

"Sorry. I just got distracted." By now we had at the front door of the palace and it was like there was an endless line of servants and butlers and footmen. Right in the middle of it all was the royal family. Queen Cayla, who is smiling. She reminds me of my mother. King Fabian, whose face looked as hard as a stone and could maybe cut through diamond. Then there is my prince, Prince Kai. He looks like a statue; he is standing so still I wonder if he is breathing. The princess, Fay looks excited to see me, we are almost the same age, I hope we could be friends. The youngest Prince, Jesse, who looks about 5 and is too busy playing with his toys to notice anything even me.

"Welcome, Princess Briella. We are so excited for your arrival today. Let me show you to you room. You must be fatigued after your journey." King Fabian said.

"Yes, I am quite a bit tired."

I followed him and everyone else followed us.everything was glittering as we all walked into the palace, it seemed like the hallway was made of gold. We got to a flight of stairs and the king excused himself and told Kai to show me up to my room. He looked as if his father just told him to clean shit. He and I would not get along so well; I could foretell. The stairs felt endless but we finally reached the top. Left, left, right and left again and we finally stopped at the front of a door which I guess is going to be my bed chamber.

"This is your room. I trust that you have everything you need, but if you need help you can ask one of the maids". Kai said and left the room in a hurry. The first sentence Kai ever said to me and he says it like I'm just a pest he can not wait to get rid of.

"My oh my. The prince is hot". Liselle one of my four ladies-in-waiting said. I pity Liselle sometimes because her parents don't love her, they treat her like dirt and make her feel worthless. Sometimes I wish to help her but even a princess can't help you change how your parents feel about you.

"Can you all leave me please, I would like some time alone before dinner. I would send for you at tea time, so you could help me change."

"Yes, Your Majesty". All of them replied. All except for Ash of course. She never calls me Your Majesty only when my father is around.

Finally, I had time to myself. I can continue reading my book, The Scarlet Letter by Nathaniel Hawthorne. Papa gave it to me so I do not get bored on the journey to Itropia. I thought it was kind of him trying to make peace but I do not see why Kai could not come to Nalani. Before I left papa told me to be on my most behaviour and I honestly did not know what he meant. Am I not always on my best behaviour? I ponder.

After dinner I decided to explore, it was such a bore I need some excitement right now. I can't, of course, have fun without Ash. Our first stop was the basement. Rumour has it that the prince and his mates do some exceptional strange experiments on people down there and oh how  would like to see if it is true.

"What would happen if we get caught. His Majesty has asked me to keep you out of trouble". Ash said a little too loudly than I like. Surprised by her statement I turned around and looked her in the eyes,      "Since when do you get scared of getting caught or actually follow orders?" I asked her whispering.       "I'm not afraid, I just would like to not be used for experiments". She replied a little too defensively I would say. "Whatever. Try to keep up will you?" We finally got to the basement and the door was , surprisingly opened. I turned the know and I could not unsee what I saw in that moment......jwjed
