2400 HOURS

NORTH OF Novokuznetsk, Siberia

*radio static "Hammer Down this is F.O.B. Delta Command, 2400 hours, mission is green lit."

"Affirmative, green lit, solid copy. Maz Hatters, mission is a go."

"Affirmative Hammer Down (radio static) Bravo, Charlie, Delta into the IFV. Echo, Foxtrot, Golf with me, 2 clicks from objective point."

My codename is Echo, i can't tell you my real name because it could jeopardize the foundation. I am part of the elite mobile task force BETA-7 or the Maz Hatters. I specialize in radiative and contaminated zones. Like the one i am about to enter. I am in a M3 Bradley IFV heading to what is suspected to be a missile silo. I have not personally met SCP-682 and never want to. I have heard enough rumors about the guards in that sector and what happened in earlier escapes and attempts. One guard told me that there have been 17 attempted escapes, 6 of them successful with heavy casualties. In the IFV with me are Alpha, the leader of the squadron with Foxtrot and Golf. Bravo, Charlie, and Delta are in a separate IFV then the one i am in.

"30 seconds till arrival, prepare for exit" says the driver through the headset

"Objective sighted," responds the gunner

We arrived at what seemed to be a makeshift base. There was 2 tents with people inside. 2 tanks and their crews were parked next to the tents with a patrol of soldiers that i believe were Nine Tailed Fox. The exhaust pipe was about 2 meters by 2 meters wide with a few of the pipes missing. Laying on the ground were the mangled pipes that looked like they were violently ripped off by something with large claws. This made me think if SCP-682 could break those, it could break us. There was 2 combat engineers, one with a welding tool removing the rest of the pipes for easier access while the other caught the falling pipes and put them in a pile. The pipe was about 6 feet off the ground with a ladder. While we were waiting for orders, a squad of 9 soldiers with gas masks like the ones we were wearing walked up to my squad. They all had AR-15 Carbines with suppressors on the barrels with assorted sights and accessories. My AR-15 had a reflex sight and a grip with a green laser so i could see it through my night vision but anyone without night vision couldn't see it. Like most of the people had. These soldiers had a patch with a hammer on their shoulder and center of their chest on the ballistic vest they had on.

"You ready Hatters." Said a tall man bearing one of the hammer patches

"Affirmative Hammer Down let's get this show on the road." Responded Alpha

"Echo, put this on your helmet, it is a camera. You are to record the capture for later use."

It was midnight and almost pitch black. You would think the darkness wouldn't help the situation but i think that they are trying to catch that reptile while it was sleeping. Thinking of that made me a little less scared of the dark, but what if he is waiting for us i thought. This changed my mind immediately. Everyone flipped down the nightvision goggles attached to their helmets and one by one went up the ladder meeting up at the top. The engineers had left carrying the massive metal bars with them. All of the sudden 2 little balls came out of the darkness. One was yellow and the other orange. I observed them and noticed they were tear drop shaped with a giant eye on the front. I reached out to touch the thing.

"Don't touch SCP-131, they are our eyes in the dark." Said Golf

I remember these. they always roll around in the break room. The scientists call them the eye-pods. I always thought they were talking about the device I listen music on.
