"May." Yelled the loud voice.
"Lucas get out." She said, shooting him up and pushing him off the bed. He looked up.
"What the he-" her prominent ribs were screaming at him and her bandages more clear in the light.
"Get out."
"May!"
"Lucas." She said, desperately opening the window and grabbing his arm.
"B-b"
"Go!" She pushed him over and he reluctantly climbed out, knowing she would be in trouble if someone had seen him. But what he didn't expect to see when looking back, was a man punching Maya across the face. He ran back.
"Get away." He yelled, jumping in.
"Who are you?"
"Who are you?"
"Doesn't matter. Leave."
"You just hit her."
"Did not."
"I saw it and she's on the ground."
"She fell. Tell him, May."
"Her names Maya." Said Lucas
"Tell him."
"Lucas, I think you might be seeing things." He dropped down next to her, wrapping his arms around her.
"You can't stay quiet, Maya. Please. I'm not seeing things." She pushed him hard.
"Leave." She said in tears. Jeff nodded.
"Come on. Maybe you should take a shower."
"I took one last night."
"Take another." He said, pulling her back up by the arm and pulling his hand around her.
"She doesn't want to." Said Lucas.
"Yes she does."
"Lucas! Go!" She yelled.
"His hand is on your ass."
"It's on my back. You need to leave." He ran out the window, sprinting as quickly as he could, running to yhe Matthews while calling the police.
"It- its Maya." He said, catching his breath.
"What's wrong?" Asked Riley.
"I called the police."
"What!" Said Cory, standing up from the breakfast table.
"Thatmanthatansweredthedoor, he punchedherandshedeniedit andhewantedhertotakeashower aftershehadhadonethenightbefore andIthinkhemeantwithhimandI shouldn'thaveleft. Ithoughtit'sbestto callthepolicebutwhatifsomething happens? Itwil-"
"Breath." Said Riley. "Wait. Did you just say Maya's taking a shower with someone?"
"I don't know but she's gonna get hurt. She could be."
"Let's go." Said Cory, grabbing his keys and running out. The short ride felt like forever. They heard sirens as they approached the building. They followed behind the police into the building. They knocked on the door. Jeff opened and they grabbed his hands, some going into the home. Riley, Lucas and Cory did too, going into her room.
"She's not here." Said an officer.
"Wait." Said Riley, opening her dresser and reaching beneath a drawer before pulling her hand out.
"What?"
"Maya ran away."
"How do you know that."
"She keeps her locket and money in there. They're gone."
