You draw a deep breath in and take one last look in the mirror. It was the night of your school's prom and your boyfriend Julian asked many times if you wanted to go, but you just weren't in to the whole idea of it. Julian decided if you weren't going to allow him to take you to prom he was going to take you to dinner instead. Although you told him many times you didn't want anything too fancy, you knew that he would go out of his way to make the night special. Just as your were slipping on your shoes, the doorbell echoed through the house.
My heart nearly exploded when I saw Julian standing there holding a dozen roses. "I know you said nothing fancy, but I had to get the flowers." Julian told me with a shy smile while looking down. "I'll let this one slide Edelman." I reply earning a chuckle out of him. After putting the flowers in a vase, I grabbed my jacket and purse and we left.
I look up from my menu and scan the 1950's themed diner. I smile to myself content with what Julian had planned. "Are you enjoying yourself?" Julian asked staring at me. "Of course! I'm really happy that you didn't go all out." I said taking a sip of my drink. Julian cracked jokes and spewed never ending compliments.
After Julian and I finished eating we decided to take a walk. With our fingers laced we strolled until we saw a park. Julian stopped at a bench and immediately took a seat. I followed his actions and took a seat beside him. "You know this isn't prom, but I wouldn't change it for anything in the world." Julian said just above a whisper. I smiled and scooted closer to him leaning my head on his shoulder. "Thank you for tonight." Without warning Julian kissed me. There we sat on a bench in the park sharing the best night of my life.
We just arrived back at my apartment, but I didn't want the night to end just yet. I walked in and Julian was just about to say goodnight when I cut him off, "Stay. Stay here with me." I say with a pleading look on my face. Julian just smiles, closes and locks the door. We changed into our pajamas and we laid in bed watching whatever lifetime movies that were on today.
I was slowly drifting off to sleep when Julian wrapped his arms around me. He kissed my temple and whispered an "I love you princess." in my ear. I smiled and whispered "I love you too."
