Errrmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. That's all that wen through my head as I saw them giving each other death stares from across the room, my mind had gone brain dead so I didn't risk saying anything. Instead I slowly started putting my shirt and shoes on. If my brain failed to function properly and form a sentence the least I could do was get dressed and make a run for the door and doing that half naked wouldn't look great. Not that this whole situation looked amazing anyway.
I was tying the last of my shoelaces when the silence was broken.
"I think you should leave." Jessie said completely emotionless not even looking at me.
Fuck, she didn't have to tell me twice. I picked up my bag off the table and made a run for it out the door and into the apartment building lobby, this is where I waited whilst reception called me a cab.
*Back upstairs*
"What the fuck was that Holly?" Jessie spat as she shut the door.
"What does it look like Jess? I opened the window and our clothes blew off." Holly replied sarcastically whilst sniggering to herself.
"Fuck you Holly. You call yourself my best mate and you go and do this?! Every time I tell you I like someone it all turns to shit! It's as if you NEVER want to see me HAPPY!" Jessie shouted, her annoyance increasing.
"Oh give over Jess, it's not like that! You're just jealous that she wanted me not you." Holly bitched.
"Me? Jealous?! I'm pissed off more than anything! To be honest I think it's you that's jealous, what is it Holly?! Do you wanna be with me or something?!" Jessie was fuming, she needed answers and to put a stop to Holly's behaviour.
All Holly could do is hang her head. Jessie was in fact right, Holly wanted to be with her and couldn't stand seeing her with anyone else.
"Oh my god are you kidding me? You're doing all this because you want to be with me? You've done nothing but hurt me and make me cry Holly! You could have just TOLD me! I don't wanna see you. Don't call or text me unless I do first. I'm so… I'm so angry with you Holly!!" And with that Jessie slapped Holly square across her face.
"Oh my god I'm so sorry!" Tears now streaming down both their faces, Jessie made a swift exit out of Holly's flat and made her way downstairs.
15 minutes later and I was still waiting in the lobby for my taxi, I was mindlessly playing on my phone when I heard footsteps. I looked up to see Jessie. Oh fuck please don't see me. Shit. Please don't come over t- has she been crying? I can only presume that Jessie and Holly have had a full blown argument upstairs, and feeling solely responsible the least I could do was ask if she was ok, right?
"Jessie." I call as I stand up and walk over to her, stopping her in her tracks.
"Jessie, please, I'm so sorry. Are you ok?" I asked sympathetically.
"It's fine, I'm fine, just Holly pissing me off. I just wanna go home." Jessie admitted.
"My taxi will be here any moment, let me take you home, it's the least I could do." I felt as though I owed it to her. With that Jessie nodded in agreement and our taxi pulled up.
The journey was quiet and a little awkward, well I felt awkward anyway, besides we were both tired. The alcohol had long warn off and it was reaching 5:30am, you could see the sky turning a pale shade of blue as the sun rose in the east.
We soon pulled up outside of Jessie's house and of course I paid, I wouldn't take no for an answer. As she was walking up to her front door I wound down my window.
"I'm really sorry y'know!" I shouted so she could hear me.
"It's not your fault." She replied turning around. She then waved her hand gesturing me to follow her. "Come in, I'll explain."
And so I did. I thanked the cab driver and joined Jessie just as she opened the front door. Her home was warm and welcoming, it was modern but with home comforts. It was very tidy and you could tell Jessie was artistic, there were photographs on the ledges and art on the walls, as well as numerous awards she'd won. I was impressed.
"Take a seat I'll make us a cuppa." Jessie broke me out of my day dream. She soon sat down with me, I took a couple of awkward sips of my tea. Fuck that's hot. She then explained the whole situation, how Holly had been acting lately and what went down in her apartment. I felt slightly less guilty but not much, after all she did catch me in the act with her best friend.
"I'm sorry it's all come down to this, I don't really know what to say. I guess I should go, it's getting late… Well early. Think we all need a good sleep." With that I stood and thanked Jessie and made my way to the front door.
"You still have my number, right?" Jessie asked.
I nodded in response.
"Text me sometime, it would be good to meet up when there's less alcohol involved." She smiled.
"Sounds great." I smiled back and made my way down the street.

2 months later and I was fully settled into my job. Phillip and I get on really well and every week I'm meeting more and more famous people - just one of the many perks of the job - I'm finally in a routine again and the 'Last Notice' letters have finally stopped flowing from my landlord.
Jessie and I have pretty much been texting every day since 'the incident' but we have yet to meet up, both our schedules being as busy as they are make it hard. Whereas I usually have the weekends off Jessie rarely does, in fact if she is lucky enough to have a whole day of it'll be a Monday or Tuesday, weird days basically. The texts are innocent and we're still getting to know each other and asking how one another is, but me being me, I can't help but flirt a bit. I mean c'mon, anyone would. We even had a Skype session yesterday whilst she was in Edinburgh, we had each other in stitches and to hear her voice again just made me feel soothed and relaxed. I definitely liked this girl.
Jessie finishes her mini promo tour in 3 days and I promised her I'd pick her up at her flat, she wasn't taking no for an answer, something along the lines of 'we haven't seen each other in 2 months and Skype doesn't count.' Stubborn. Something we both have in common. She also mentioned a new Italian place that had just opened in town and being the sucker I am for carbs, how could I say no?!
