Not directly Academy but a poem I wrote recently and wanted to share. Enjoy!
Innocence is
Believing what we cannot see
Trusting without thought
Loving without prejudice
It's childhood's pretty red bow
Sparkling, shining, shimmering
Wrapping around us and holding on tight
As we play in ways only children play
Jumping in puddles, water spraying the air
Our laughs of delight echo
As the sun sparkles off the swiftly falling drops
Tiny pink tongues darting out
Waiting to taste the snow
A hot day, a black swing,
Trying to touch the sky
A pile of reds, oranges, and browns
Whirlwinds of leaves as we jump in with giggles
And yet we lose that
The pretty bow of innocence, as we grow, unravels
And we leave it, torn, tattered and dirty, lying in the dust of childhood
