Freddy’s POV

　

We where driven back to the party by that guy Ken. I don’t know about him. Something just didn’t sit right. Luke looked like a dead man walking down the green mile when he made his way to his truck. I felt sorry for him.

I walked back into the party and Tim and Ben were already there. So I headed over to where Lucy and the other Codey’s were sitting around talking. I wanted to ask them about there cousin Janet but didn’t want to sound so interested.

“So guys it’s been what a little over a year since I last meet you guys. It was a lovely wedding by the way. I can see all the babies are doing well.” I tell them seeing babies everywhere. Guess there was something in the water that year?” I say laughing.

“No kidding” said Mike.

“Our cousin Janet was one of the people at our wedding and I don’t know who she hooked up with because 9 months to the day she gave birth to a beautiful little girl.”

I felt my heart plummet down to the floor.

“She didn’t tell you who she hooked up with?” I asked.

Luis shook his head “Nope I told her I’d find him and beat his ass for her. But she said no.”

Leo sighed “she said it was a mutual hook up and the guy didn’t want anything but her body and she respected his honesty and would not ever think of roping anyone who didn’t want to be with her.” He scratched his head.

“Yeah I guess you have to respect her for that, but I still think the little darling needs a father or she should tell the dead beat and let him decide if he wants to be in her life or not.” Mike says.

Just then his little girl runs up and pulls his hand “daddy come dance with me.” Mike gives us all a sheepish grin and walks away with his daughter.

I feel my breath leave my body and start to feel light headed. I take a couple of deep breaths and try to regain my composure. “so is she still at her parents ranch in Galveston?” I asked.

“No Since she’s a teacher, she moved by us and started a day care. Now she takes care of all our brood. We pay her of course and we even built the day care on our property. She hired a teachers assistant and mom is there helping everyday when she’s not off with dad on business.” Leo said.

“So why didn’t she come.” I asked.

“Oh she teased that not having us around would be a welcome vacation from the lot of us.” Luis said.

I saw the girls eyeing me with curiosity, Shit.

“Well I have to go I’m glad everything worked out with Ben. Although who knows how it’s going to go for Luke?” I tell them as I get up.

Lucy walks over to me and hugs me. “I’m so sorry I kept you away from what ever you came here to do. Thank you very much and say hello to that stinking cousin of mine.

I walked away and went to my hotel feeling numb.

Luke’s POV

　

I woke up super early and took a shower shaved and got ready to pick up Mary Joe. I felt like a kid going on his first date.

I picked up some flowers for her and took the car instead of the truck so she would not struggle to get in. I took a deep breath ad I walked to her door.
