Many people argue about the specifics of what Hell includes. Is it a place of burning fire? Maybe being trapped to re-live your worst moments over and over again? It could even possible involve being trapped in a small elevator and being forced to listen to that dreaded, monotonous elevator music on a constant loop until you ultimately lose your sanity. Although, I can tell you now that all of those theories are wrong. Hell is being burned alive so sluggishly that you cannot even think clearly; it involves an agonizing pain blistering throughout your body, where the only other sound you can make out over your never-ending screams is the constant acceleration and deceleration of your own heart.
I wasn't sure what was happening. Maybe that woman had come to claim my soul. However, I really didn't think I had done anything to warranted being trapped in eternal flames, but maybe I broke some unforgivable cosmic law that I was too naive to know about. But, how could I be punished for a law I had no knowledge of existing?
After what seemed like forever, my heart began to race at an impossible pace. Then, abruptly, the familiar drone of my heart ceased. It was quickly replaced with a multitude of other sounds though. The sudden change caused me to jump up and a strange, growling noise seemed to echo throughout the room. Immediately, I whipped my head towards the two figures standing in the corner as the growling noise continued to intensify. Two distinctly, different colors seemed to radiate out from the both of them.
"Easy, Elli," I heard a man say as he walked towards me. His hands were positioned outwards away from his body in a calming fashion.
I cocked my head to the side as I watched him position himself in front of the red haired woman. He looked familiar, but I couldn't put my finger on it. His voice was as smooth as velvet; I was sure that I would remember such a melodious voice. As he approached me, I continued to study his features. His skin was smooth and comparable to marble; it seemed to lack any imperfections or melanin for that matter. The most curious detail about him was the honey-color light that seemed to radiate out of him. He looked angelic.
I was broken out of my thoughts when the man spoke again, "Elli, I know it is very disorienting." He stopped a few feet in front of me and smiled weakly at me.
The smile seemed vaguely familiar, but my thoughts and memories seemed to be clouded by an uncomfortable numbness in my throat. Instinctively, I rubbed the skin of my throat, attempting to soothe the feeling.
"She's just hungry, Riley. Unlike you, she wasn't aware of what the transformation would entail. Once she has feed, she will be more responsive," the woman said as she walked forward and placed a hand delicately on Riley's hip. His eyes seemed to sparkle as he lovingly wrapped his arms around her waist, pulling her closer to him. The colors radiating out from each of them mixed together where they were touching to form a forest green color.
"Riley," I exclaimed. A sharp sound erupted throughout the room as I slammed my hand over my mouth. My voice wasn't my voice anymore. My voice sounded just as musical as their voices.
Riley's laugh rang out as he watched my confused facial expression.
"Yeah, it's me. Freaky, right? You look pretty different too. I actually didn't think you could get any paler," he teased as he snickered again.
I dramatically rolled my eyes and felt an annoyed hiss slip through my lips.
"But, like Victoria said, you must be thirsty. We saved you something," he said as he unwrapped his arms from the woman; their colors no longer muddled by the others.
I curiously watched him as he walked out of the room, which contained a small bed and little furnishings. It seemed like we were all in an abandoned log cabin?
