tap...tap...tap...The only sound in the entire park was coming from five slim fingers belonging to a girl who was in deep thought of her next move.
the wind began to pick up and the boy suddenly realized the tinted color of the sky, he predicted it would rain in half an hour by the speed of the growing darkness. when his smaller opponent played her move he instantly followed behind her and slid his bishop to take out one of her knights. she grumbled and muttered something incoherent under her breathe before going through her thought process once again. i mean for the boy, it could've wasn't as unentertaining as the last, the game has already past the previous duration of their last game and she had managed to take out some of his pawns as well.
"so do you do anything other than this dumb game?" A sudden voice spoke up, it was hers, the boy looked down at her as she stared blankly at the table. he did not know whether or not to be offended by the fact that she called chess dumb or surprised by her sudden question. "um, well yeah, duh, i- uh, i play video games and read a bit," the boy answered in a slight rush, and he uncomfortably shifted in his seat as he focused on the girl.
"Do you do anything other than bother people?" the boy asked sarcastically.
"yep, i take viola classes with me mum" she still didn't look up "oh, and I draw a bit too." the boy wasn't really impressed because every child he knew had parents who did the same at her age, it just seemed normal.
"I bet that makes you so special," he used a sarcastic tone once more "anyone can play a violin." he chuckled.
"I wonder if you've learned your alphabet yet, or is that too advanced for you" he continued with his childish behavior. suddenly she had moved one of her rooks four spaces to the corner and nearly took out half of his force before timing the clock. her eyes had finally rested upon his and she gave a simple smile before saying "I memorized the alphabet when I was two, I also memorized every country and their capital in the world." she then closed her eyes and recited the alphabet and after that proceeded to slowly recite all the countries and capitals in the world but half way through he stopped her.
"oh, well anyone can do that, but who would want to waste like a year of their life on countries and capitals." he scoffed at her, his attitude did not phase her because after his attempt to sass her, she giggled quietly not looking at him anymore.
is it weird that I felt something, in my stomach? it was almost ticklish but it felt amazing. the boy thought again as he had to think of his new game plan.
this was a rushed chapter bc I haven't updated in a while sorry.
