I walked into the small hospital room and paused to knock on the door, not wanting to startle the muscular blonde man. There sat Captain Steve Rogers, perched on the edge of the uncomfortable hospital bed with a pained expression on his handsome face. This was the first time I'd seem him awake besides getting barreled into early this morning when he woke up after 70 years of endless sleep. He was a hero, though. He saved countless lives when he crashed a plane filled with bombs, designated for the U.S., into the ice. Needless to say, he freaked out and caused a scene in the middle of Times Square when he realized he wasn't in the 1940's any longer. But who could really blame him? The world is entirely different from what it was in the 40's.

At the sound of my knock, Captain Rogers immediately snapped his head in my direction.

"Hello Captain Rogers," I said, a bit startled. "I’m Alyssa Daniels and I've been your nurse for quite some time now."

"Nice to meet you, ma'am. Sorry about...Practically knocking you over this morning.." His normally shimmering blue eyes dimmed to a dull indigo.

"It's quite alright," I chuckled. "I would have reacted the same way had I been in your shoes. Now, if you don't mind, I'd like to perform a few checkups before I head out for the night"

He nodded, so I continued with what I was doing, ending by checking his blood pressure. I slid the cuff around his arm, lightly touching his bicep. His body was beautifully sculpted and his skin was golden. I soon realized I was oodling him, so I abruptly went back to checking his blood pressure. I quickly looked up to see his bright eyes staring into mine intensely. My hand was still touching his bicep and it had been for way too long...He DEFINITELY noticed. Slipping the cuff off, I stood up and straightened my dress. I could feel my cheeks heating up. I HAD to get out of there.

"Well, uh, do you need anything Captain?"

"No ma'am. Thank you, though." He smiled faintly.

I nodded and bid farewell to him for the day and exited the room, closing the door behind me.

-Steve's POV-

She was beautiful and she looked just like Peggy. Well, not exactly. She had Peggy's dark brown hair and her full lips, painted in almost the exact shade of deep crimson. The only difference was the eyes. Unlike Peggy's black eyes, Alyssa had bright green eyes framed with thick lashes. She was also a bit thinner than Peggy, but she had the same hourglass figure. He could tell their personalities weren't as similar as their appearances. Peggy was a stern, confident and powerful woman. He didn't know much about Alyssa, but he could tell she had a vibrant, caring personality and he wanted to know more about her. But how can one get to know someone whose presence only reminds him of his lost love? After rolling the idea over in his head, he decided it was worth it. Alyssa was the closest to Peggy he was ever going to get. He finally settled down and crawled under the scratchy blanket to fall asleep once again.
