"Mom! Dad! Where are you?!" A girl, around 8, shouted.
Silence enveloped the room.
"Mom? Dad?" She asked once again.
Still no sound.
She walked towards the room where her parents resides and opened the door.
Blood was scattered everywhere and as she examined the room, she found the body of her parents on the floor.
"Mom! Dad!"
"Noooo!!!! Mooom!! Daaaddd!!!"
Emerald's POV ☆_☆
"-Rald! Emerald!"
I suddenly rose up. Sweat dripping down my body. It was just a dream. I sighed.
"Were you having a nightmare, dear?"
My foster mom asked me. It has been 7 years since that incident. Because I had no other family members, I was adopted by them.
"Yes. I had that dream again, mom. I saw the incident my parents were again. I don't know but-" I started to cry.
"I actually think it's my fault. I don't know how it all happened but I really think-"
"Hush now, Em. Everything's okay. It's not your fault. It never was. Don't worry."
My foster mom, Janine, comforted me with a hug.
"You won't leave me right, mom?" I asked, sniffing.
She smiled. I snuggled close to her and hugged her tighter.
"Get ready now, breakfast's ready." She stood up and went to the door, waiting for me.
"Alright." I hurriedly get off my bed and went towards her, and together, we went downstairs and into the dining area.
"Hey sweetie." A masculine voice said.
I looked around the room and found my foster dad, Francis, reading newspaper as usual.
"Morning dad." I said and went up to him and hugged him.
He put down the newspaper he was reading and looked at me intently.
"You okay? You were screaming awhile ago. I'll guess, that dream again?" He asked.
Dad knew everything that has happened to me ever since he passed by my family's house and adopted me afterwards.
"Yeah. Again." I answered nonchalantly.
He pats my head.
"Everything's gonna be alright, Em. I promise nothing like that event would happen again." He smiled.
"Thanks dad." I smiled back.
"Alright, everyone in their respective seats now, we're eating." My mom said.
I scanned the room and found someone missing.
"Wait, isn't Sapphire joining us?" I asked.
I heard dad sighed.
"You know how she is, Em. She can't even hear the loudest volume of her alarm. It'll be a miracle if she can hear us calling her."
I stiffled a laugh.
"I heard that."
A feminine voice echoed the room.
"It really is a miracle." Dad said with a chuckle.
"Come on Phire, sit down." Mom suggested as my foster sister took her place.
Silence eroded the room until dad spoke.
"It's been awhile since we've eaten together like this. It makes me feel -sobs- very happy" Dad dramatically said.
"Oh come on, dad. Stop being like a crybaby." Sapphire said.
"Oh right. Speaking of crybabies, your birthday is coming close, Baby Sapphire." Mom said.
"Oh would you stop calling me that? I ain't a baby anymore." Sapphire argued.
"2 months more and you'll be a debutant, Baby Sapphie~!" I teased her.
"Shut up, Enormousrald." She said while glaring at me.
"Awww~ you're just too cute to watch. My babies are teasing each other~" Dad announced while dramatically wiping a fake tear from his eyes.
"Oh come on! Quit your dramas. Ugh! Why do I even have to be in this family?!" Sapphire grunted.
I laughed.
Even if Sapphire acts bitchy, she really is kind. Our relationship was never like the ones in the stories wherein the real daughter would hate the adopted one and their bloods would always boil everytime they'll encounter each other. Sapphire has always been there for me, through good times and the bad. She never made me feel like I was an outcast, nor did I not belong to the family. She treated me just like how she treats someone her own blood.
"That reminds me." Mom started.
We all looked at her in confusion.
"Em, I enrolled you to Steinfield University and you'll be starting on this Monday." She continued.
"Oh my gosh Emerald! We'll be going to school together now! I won't be lonely in the car anymore! Sapphire excitedly exclaimed.
"You're college, I'm highschool. We're on a different campus, you know? It's somehow far." I answered.
"At least I would have someone to talk to in the car! ^_^" She replied.
I slightly smiled.
I could still hear the sound of their laughter that echoed throughout the room.
I could still remember the smiles on their faces as we were talking about Sapphire's upcoming debut.
I could still remember that last moment I spent with them.
I could still remember until everything turned black.
