-bell rings-
"Huh?"
I woke up and realized I'm at school.
I touched my face and felt the wetness in them.
I hurriedly wiped the tears that streamed down my face.
'I really must have missed them already, huh?'
I scanned the room and saw the students rushing out the door. I looked at my watch and saw that it is already dismissal time.
'Did I just slept the whole day without the teachers noticing?'
I grumbled and picked up my things and setting off to go home.
As I was about to close the door of the classroom, I remembered something.
'Oh! It's their anniversary. Maybe that's why I just dreamt of them awhile ago. I'll visit them on the way home.'
I thought to myself.
I walked out of the campus and saw my driver waiting for me. He waved his arms for me to see him and I went up to him.
"Miss Emerald, are you ready to go?" The driver, Max, asked.
I smiled and told him that I have some place I want to go today and that he can take off without me.
He hesitated for a while, explaining what could happen to me, but did as I told him since I assured him that I won't be taking long.
I watched as the car became smaller and smaller in my vision. I then walked towards a store and bought some candles and flowers. Afterwards, I went to a silent place that looks a lot like an abandoned private park.
I walked towards a certain place and placed the flowers and the lit the candles on the grave that was appointed on that area.
I sat down and reminisced the moments that they were still with me.
On the grave states my foster parents' names, Janine Antonette Greene and Francis Louis Greene.
I felt a tear escaped my right eye as I reminisced the moments we were complete as a family.
I was actually lucky I was adopted by them. In the entire 6 years that I was with them, I only felt happiness.
I felt complete.
I felt perfect.
They were my foster family who treated me like their own. I never weary whenever I'm with them. I always felt safe and secured.
They were exceptionally rich. Business roaming around worldwide. I actually teased Sapphire with running the business once she's legal, and I could remember her annoyed face and even told me that she'll give the whole business for me to manage. I actually felt special having been adopted by them since I was showered with many blessings.
If I was a greedy person, I would've been spoiled by now, but, no. Never once did they greed me with anything. In fact, they give me everything I asked for.
They were the greatest people I've ever met. I never lose stories whenever I talk with them. They would always loosen up the mood and would make you feel better without you noticing when or how did they even do that.
There I lost it. I cried heavily, burying the palm of my hands on my face, the clouds joining in my misery. Lightning started to crack as I kept on crying. I decided that I should go home. I picked up myself and started walking, not before leaving a goodbye message to my parents.
As I arrived home, Max hurriedly went up to me with a towel and wrap it around me.
"Miss Emerald, you're soaking wet. You'll catch a cold in this situation. I'll tell Nana to cook some soup for you while you go and take a quick bath and change."
Max really is a worrywart. I even remembered him worrying about me when I was just about to eat some unbranded chocolate that I got from the store. Maybe it could have some drug in there that would hypnotize me or something. I slightly laughed at that thought.
"Thank you Max." I pecked a kiss on his cheeks. He instantly blushed and hid his face. I chuckled lightly then went to my room.
Max has always been with us ever since I was adopted. He was even in this family before me. I was 8 back then, and he was 13. Actually, he is the son of our former driver before, Mark. Sapphire, Max, and I would always play together and we even considered ourselves bestfriends. Sapphire and Max were always close since they were around the same age. Sapphire being 12.
I remembered Sapphire telling me about this huge crush she has for Max.
Yes, Sapphire had had a crush on Max.
Sapphire.
My lovable older sister.
If only she was here right now, I wouldn't be lonely.
