The car came to a halt.

I see walls, big ones. I knew the place was safe but I didn't know it was this safe. Maybe Ron and I could actually have a normal life, but I knew the odds of that actually happening was low. "Never let your guard down." That's what Dad would say, so that's what I would do. Me and the others step out of the car and a man opens the gate that lies ahead. As Ron, Rick and Carl head inside I stood there and questioned what I was really getting into.

"Hey, Violet it's safe here. Promise." Carl says kindly and offers a smile. I smile small back and walked inside with Carl. When I entered the walls I looked around and the normalcy was so foreign, yet made me feel a little nostalgic.

Overenthusiastic screeching pulled me out of my cogitative thoughts. "Carl! You're home, I missed you so much!" A brunette teenaged girl ran up to Carl and hugged him so tight that his face was practically purple. "I missed you too." He pats her back lightly. Suddenly she looked up and noticed my presence

"Who are you?" She asks bluntly in an almost rude tone.
"Alyssa, this is Violet. Violet, this is my girl friend Alyssa." Carl looks down and looks a little uncomfortable.
"Hi, it's nice to meet you Alyssa." I say politely and put out my hand to shake. Alyssa looked at my hand for a moment and shakes it reluctantly.
She was a little bitchy but teen drama is definitely not my strong suit, so i kept my comments to myself.

"Violet, I can show you to your new room if you want?" Carl offers and Alyssa glares up at him with a frustrated look in her eye. "Sure, thanks." I answer and with that Carl kisses Alyssa on the cheek and we start to walk towards the houses.

"So, how long have you and Alyssa been together?" I ask trying to fill the silence and stick my thumbs into my pockets. "Not long, I know she can be a little over dramatic at times but, she was there for me when I really needed a friend. Plus, there aren't many people around my age here. What about you?"

"What about me?" I question jokingly.
"I mean, what about you and Ron, I honestly don't understand why you'd want be with him. He's such an ass and you're so-"
"I'm so what?" I laugh lightly, cutting him off
"stubborn, irritating-" I began to list qualities about myself.
"Sweet." Now it's him that cuts me off "You're really sweet Violet." I never really got compliments, so I  wasn't really sure how to accept them. I came to a conclusion that it was best to just shrug it off.
"You obviously have never seen me pissed off then." I scoff and he laughs with me. We then arrive at a big gray house "Here it is." I look up at the place. "Where's Ron staying?"
Carl looks down and scratches the back of his neck "My dad thought it would be better if he stayed at the other house across the street." I nod lightly.

Maybe it wasn't the worst idea for us two to separate for awhile.  Things got a little tense back in the woods.

After I'm done pondering, Carl and I go inside and I  follow him up the stairs. "I know this isn't the most fabulous place but it's safe." I begin to look around. Yeah it was an attic but it could be worst. "Thanks." I walk over to the bed and plop my bag on to the sheets. "Do you need any help settling in?" He asks nicely as I unpack my bag .
"No, I'm good but thanks." While unpacking I pull out a few comic books and I could see Carl's eyes light up. "You like comics?" He asks and I smile at the fact that he seemed to be blown away.
"Yeah, they're the closes thing to video games now a days." A grin appears across Carl's features.
"I tried to get Alyssa to play some with me but she isn't really the video game type, she likes some comics, but she's more of a twilight books kind of girl." I giggle lightly and put the comics on a shelf.

"Can I show you something?" Carl questions and I look up at him curiously then nod. Carl then took my hand and led me down the hall to his room eagerly. When we walked in i saw a gaming system and a giant stack of comics.

"How do you-"

"We have electricity here. Something about solar panels."

He scratches the back of his head and i look dumbfounded. "Do you want to play a few games?" He smirks and I nod a little too eagerly. We both played for hours.
When it started getting late Carl walked me back up to my room.
"I don't think I've had that much fun in months."he states. Carl and I reach my bed room door.
"Me either. Thanks for today Carl."  I smile softly.
"Can we do this again sometime soon?" He looked in my eyes and i felt like i could melt
"S-sure, yeah of course."

"Goodnight Violet." he says softly and walks back towards his room.
At that moment I feel something I  haven't felt in a long time,

A spark.
