Three months later,,,

Carl and I were laying on the red and white picnic blanket in the silent forest. We've been coming here every day for the past 2 months. Since Ron and Alyssa went on a run with Rosita and Tara, everyone's been worried. It's been three months and they haven't been back. We don't even know if they're alive.

"Do you miss her?"

I asked.
Carl and I were lying side by side looking up at the branches of the trees and the blue sky above them. My hands were on my stomach and my ankles were crossed

"Like crazy."

He didn't bother to look over at me. Even though we both missed our companions, we still were okay. I think it's because we know that we have each other. We come out here everyday and we'll just talk, or read comic books. Carl is probably my best friend, other than Beth. We've been talking a lot lately too. She's actually a pretty cool person once you get to know her.

"Do you miss Ron?"

"Like crazy."

Although Ron has made mistakes, I still cared for him deeply. And even if Carl didn't understand it, he respected it.

We turned our heads at the exact same
time, looking at each other. We both laughed and I sat up. I reached over to the back pack that I had brought with us. I pulled out a zip lock bag full of green grapes, Carl and I both had this weird addiction to green grapes and it kind of became 'our thing'.

I opened the bag and popped a grape in my mouth and felt the sour liquid spread across my tongue. Carl then sat up. "Can you hand me some?" I nodded and held the grape in the air. But when he reached for it I quickly pulled it away. "Wait! Try to catch it in your mouth." He laughed lightly. "Fine."

I tossed the grape up in the air towards him and he caught it, then began to chew it. "Okay your turn." He smiled and lightly took the bag from my grasp.
"Okay open your mouth."
I giggled lightly and opened my mouth waiting for him to throw the grape.

But suddenly, I felt a handful of grapes hit my face. "Hey!" I tried to be mad but I couldn't help but smile. Carl was laughing, almost out of breath, from his actions. "You think that's funny?" I squinted my eyes. "Very!" Carl was holding his stomach, trying to stop the chuckles coming from him.

I grabbed the grapes he threw at me and threw them back at him but he just began to laugh more. I loved seeing Carl laugh, especially after everything he's been through. If someone like him can still smile that beautiful smile of his, after being through as much shit he's been through. There's hope.

After awhile, Carl and I cleaned up our picnic and walked back to Alexandria, hopping over the wall and making our way to our street.
"Hey, my dad found a bunch of movies on a run yesterday. Do you want to come over tonight and watch some with me?"

"I don't know, I told Beth I would sleep over." I bit my lip softly.
"Come on." He begged.
Carl and I both stopped and he stood in front of me.

"Please?"

How could I say no?

"Okay, fine." I smiled and he grinned lightly.
