Aphmau's POV

At Phoenix Drop High School (PDHS) it was the day of the talent show. Well, actually it was the day of talent show tryouts. From there on, all the finalists would have a chance to practice for 3 days until the final day in which the talent show would commence. I was entering of course. Not on my own will really, in fact it was more to prove a point but we'll get into that later.

It may seem really lame for a high school to have a talent show but that was because it was. But PDHS had always been a dorky school. Dorky school colors (Orange and green), dorky people (everyone was too focused on the wrong thing) and dorky ideas. Neon day, Disney day, Backwards day, headband day, cupcake day and far too many more. Oh and not to mention the cliche bake sales, car washes, and door-to-door random product selling.

If you looked up dorkiest high school, PDHS would pop up, no doubt, with no competition. We are Lame with a capital L. You have no idea how many times I wish I were at a different school but at least I have my friends. There's Katelyn, Kawaii~Chan, Nicole, Travis, Cadenza, Lucinda and Zane (Take that Garroth!)

I always smile in victory whenever Zane approaches us. He's my friend and I care for him yeah but it also sends a ripple of pride and excitement through me for I took something that once belonged to Garroth.

Garroth Ro'meave. I spit in disgust at the very name. Garroth isn't a bad person but he's a super annoying one. And the worst kind of people are the smart, annoying ones and unfortunately, Garroth Ro'meave is one of them. He always ties with me for best grades in all of my classes. That's right, he's in all of my classes! We're both seniors so next year we're moving on to collage where I hope I don't ever see the same goofy smile, hideous blond hair and way-too-blue eyes. By way-too-blue I mean that his eyes are so confusing. On the top is a light blue and on the bottom is blue. That honestly just looks so hideous and unnerving. Honestly it's just a no.

Not only that but his "best bro" as he calls him, Laurence Zvhal used to be my best friend. Then stupid Garroth with his stupid face (If you get the reference I love you) went ahead and ruined it. He swooped in and stole Laurence as my best friend from right under my nose. That was when the rivalry started. Garroth didn't know he made a rival that day until I stole Zane. Garroth and Zane used to be close brothers. Zane looked up to Garroth due to the fact that he was one year younger. However because Zane is smarter then both me and Garroth, he skipped a grade and is a senior as well. But that's besides the point. I then started getting closer and friendlier with Zane and eventually, he wised up and ditched Garroth for my group. I'm actually really glad I became his friend, he's my closest friend in the group even though he's a guy.

Now for what I mentioned earlier, entering the talent show to prove a point. By what I've told you can you guess? Well the answer is, I'm entering so that way I can beat Garroth. He entered first, playing a soft song on a guitar so to top it, I entered with singing because my friend's always tell me I have a wonderful singing voice.

And so the rivalry started. Laurence found out first that I had entered the competition and told Garroth about it. Ha! The look on his face was priceless when he found out I was entering. In the cafeteria, Laurence sprinted up to Garroth, waving a copy of the sign up sheets. He handed the sheet to Garroth who took it with a peculiar look on his face. Then as his eyes scrolled down the paper and focused on my name, his eyes widened with shock and anger. He crunched the paper up and threw me a glare from across the cafeteria. In response, I gave a little wave with a smug smirk on my face.

It's so much nicer when your the one with the last word.

Now as I stood in the backroom of the auditorium, my hand wrapped around a necklace. It was a glowing purple gemstone shaped like a heart, a silver chain slipping through it. I rarely wore it, though when I did, I felt like I shined brighter, smiled wider and prospered better. As my hand clasped around the gem with the silver chain hanging lazily out of from my enclosed hand, I shut my eyes and felt a few casual tears roll out of my eyes and fall lazily down my cheeks.
