Lunch time. Finally. As the last bell before lunch rang, I gathered my stuff to leave.
“Um Sage? Can I see you at my desk?” My English teacher Mrs. Link asked me.
“S-sure.” I said as I gathered my stuff and slowly walked to her desk.
“I notice that you were a bit distant today.. anything going on that I need to know about?” She questioned.
“N-no Mrs. Link. Everything’s fine. Great even. I guess my mind was just somewhere else today,” I said laughing it off.
She looked at me for a second before replying. “Well okay Sage, but you know if you ever need someone to talk to, my doors always open.”
“Yes, thank you. I better get going now, don’t want to be late for lunch!” I said running out as fast as I could. I speedwalked to lunch, ready to tell Blaze about everything, when I entered the lunch room and came face to face with Blaze, David, and some other people we sat at the table with. I get the others, but why the fuck was David here. Ugh.
“Sage! Over here!” Blaze called to me. I smiled weakly and slowly walked over to the lunch table latching onto my bag as if it were my life support. I reached the table and sat beside Blaze and Max, the other guy at the table. He sat across from his girlfriend Sara who sat next to David who was now seated directly across from me. Oh why does life hate my very existence?! As I put my bag down and turned my body toward Blaze I could feel David’s eyes boreing hole into my side. I tasted pure bile in my throat.
“Sage aren’t you going to eat something?” Blaze asked looking concerned.
“Uh, no. I had a big breakfast, and sort of lost my appitite,” I trailed off glancing at David to find that he was still looking at me. I hoped she would get the hint that I didn’t want to talk about it, but knowing Blaze.. she never gets the hint.
“So whats going on with you two?” She asked popping another French fry in her mouth. I picked at my nails pretending not to hear her YET AGAIN HOPING SHE WOULD GET THE HINT, but she didn’t.
“Sage? Earth to Sage? Whats going on with you two?” Blaze stared at me, before looking at David to find that he was already looking at me.
“Nothing, absolutely nothing.” I replied evenly finally finding the confidence to stare David straight in the eyes. He smirked.
“Aw, is little Sagie hurt? You gotta learn when to let a grudge go, baby,” He smirked at me. I suddenly stood, surprising both David and Blaze.
“I think im going to be sick,” I said as I ran out of the cafeteria. I reached the bathroom and locked myself in a stall and waited for this morning’s breakfast to come up, which really, was nothing at all.
