I'm so sorry for the late update! Myself and the co-writer of the story have been super busy lately but hopefully we can start uploading a lot faster!

Our heads turn to the direction of the rough southern voice. Scruff outlined his face, with two blue eyes at the center. Bits and pieces of his face similarly resembling Daryl's, I gathered they were related, mostly because he had just called him brother. Daryl and I had each taken a step back from one another.
" The hell you want Merle?" Daryl sternly spoke.
"Oh now come on, I got to look out for my baby bro. Who's this fine piece?" He asked nodding towards me.
I interjected before Daryl could answer. " I'm Jess, and who the hell are you?" I asked crossing my arms, slightly raising one eyebrow.
"Is that anyway to treat your new boy toys big brother? He asked beginning to lean on a near by tree with a smug grin on his face. I was about to make some snarky remark before Daryl cut in.
"Come on let's go. We got a group, up at the jail. Pretty far from here might take a day or two to even get back. Better start walking before it gets dark." Daryl said taking a slightly more serious tone than before.
He looked at me and I nodded before taking out a piece of cloth to clean and wrap up my hand. We started walking in the direction of the jail and it was silent apart from the occasional hand signal tand whisper to "stay down and shut up" from Merle. I was definitely not the type to start conversation, but I hadn't see people in such a long time that it felt good to talk. After about five minutes of contemplating whether I should say something, and another ten mustering up the courage I finally spoke.
"So uhh you said you had a group at the jail, how many?" I asked looking straight at the ground trying to avoid eye contact.
"Uhh ide say about eight others." Daryl replied tucking his thumbs underneath the straps on his shoulders.
"What were you doing back there anyways?" His head turns towards me, I kick a rock on the floor and keep my focus on splitting pavement.
"Just passing through." I reply not wanting to go any deeper and bring up any unwanted emotions. "But uh what are you doing so far from your prison?" I asked.
"Hunting. We're kinda exhausting our supplies near the prison."
"Don't mean to interrupt your twenty-one questions back there but you mind shutting up and paying attention?" Merle ended his smart ass remark by pointing to a group of about ten walkers. Finally I can redeem myself. I mean I didn't want to seem like I always need protection. I pull my machete from my side as Daryl raises his crossbow and Merle his bat. We made quick work of them, as we move on my body adjusts to the suddenly spike of adrenaline my had body produced. It starts to get dark and I'm wondering when we are going to stop for the night. We're been walking for a good ten hours and I was exhausted, but never let it show.
I finally decide to speak up "You guys gonna get ready to set up camp anytime soon, it's getting pretty dark."
