(He's 5, you're two months; Narrator's POV): From day one Niall was a protective big brother, even at five years old. He always wanted to hold you, feed you, sing you to sleep. Your big, blue eyes and bright smile reeled him in like a fish on a hook.

"Niall, you need to come eat dinner!" Maura calls.

"Ok mum!" Niall replies, gently pulling you out of your crib. He wraps you in your soft blanket, smiling warmly as you make happy baby noises. The next moment seemed to go in horrifying slow motion. Your Chihuahua came bounding down the stairs, accidentally tripping your brother. His eyes widened in fear as you fell out of his arms and on the floor with a thud.

"What happened?" Your mom shrieks as loud wails fell from your mouth.

"I'm so sorry! I-I just brought her down so you could feed her!" Niall exclaims frantically, apologizing profusely.

Your mom wanted to be mad at him for dropping you, but she just couldn't. She loved how close he was with you, even though you're just a babe.

Your crying continued, getting louder every minute, despite her desperate tries.

"Niall, hold her." Bobby says, desperately wanting it to stop and knowing he can always calm you down.

"Wh-What if I drop her?" He stutters nervously.

"You've never dropped her before, and the last time Boxer was partially responsible." Maura replies, handing you to him.

Very carefully, he takes you, then sits on the couch to prevent the risk of dropping you again. It took about a minute for you to stop crying once you were in his arms, about ten minutes shorter than when Maura held you.

"Hey beautiful girl. I'm really sorry about dropping you, by the way. I love you so much." He whispers, just before singing you to sleep.

"Mum? Can I eat later, when she wakes up?" He asks quietly. Your mom, with a melted heart, agreed.
