Sometimes, things doesnt always appear like they seem or like it's expected of them. I under estimated my abilities and capabilities, Charlotte was very right, I had to make decisions for myself now. My parents made theirs which cost me my happiness but I'm definitely gaining them back poco A poco. Thanks to my awesome dad and the amazing friends I've got.
"I'll go get the food, pick a table for us" I said rummaging through my back pack for my wallet. "Cus I'm starving"
"Aye sir" she smiled as she rolled her eye.
I walked off to the food stand and ordered burritos for three. Walking back to where Charlotte had hustled the sit for us, Andrew came in in just the right time to our surprise.
"I never expected you to be here now!" I said forcing out a smile as I carefully and gently place the food on our table.
"Well, I now have a forte for being at places at the right time" he replied and I noticed a smirk forming at the corner of his mouth.
"And when did that start?" Charlotte chortled looking at him with a rapt attention. "Cus I know nothing about your forte" she stressed the FORTE with an air quote.
"It started 5 minutes ago" he joked
"No. No." I said with a mouthful of burritos.
"Randall, you look surprisingly chirpy for a person with divorced parent" Drew exclaimed.
"You two made me change my mind. I thought cooing would bring me closer to them. You know there's nothing I would want order than for both of em to be back together once more"
"I know the feeling Randall, quit thinking about them and in no time all gloomy thought would disappear and you'll be more than happy with yourself and of course your life"
"I have an idea" Drew smiled looking at both of us like we're some piece of creative artworks. "What you need is a girlfriend"
"What!" I exclaimed looking at him with sheer confusion mixed with a disdainful expression.
"Of course, you need someone you can share your thoughts with, your ideas and have a romantic feel with. Y'know someone you can just snap you fingers at and she'll be beside you in no time"
"Charlotte! Quit the pep talk, you're making me feel like a surgeon is on my eye."
"She's right!" Drew huffed definitely amused by what Charlotte had just said. "How about the Queen bee?"
"No. No. Definitely not her, she's a clear definition of a spoilt brat" I looked over to a crowded corner at the cafeteria where the Queen bee was sitting, flunting her hair back and forth like it was going to fall off in no time. "Susan's not my type"
"I heard she's auditioning for a model job at Victoria secret next week, that's the new school gossip" she rolled her eyes. "Don't ask me how I knew"
"That's awful, she can never be a model, she's not even pretty"
"Well, her dad is got connections, he'll definitely get her in" she said and we both looked at Andrew straying eyes.
"How about that chick?" He said pointing to a colourful table behind us filled with girls in cheerleaders attire.
"Aw! I'll love that one over there" I said pointing to a girl in short mini skirt with blonde hair.
"Jessie! She's really hot!"
"How'd you know her name?" I asked suddenly getting excited.
"Well, my girlfriend's is in the cheerleading squad remember" he said looking at us belligerently. "She tells me about all them hot chicks on the squad"
"News flash buddy, we know you've got a girlfriend" Charlotte said sarcastically.
"Don't make it seem so bad Drew, I think I'll go talk to her" I said walking off to the table at which Jessie was in.
"Hey Jessie, can I talk to you for a minute?" I asked in my most genuine gentlemanly tone of voice. "Outside" I added.
"Okay" she replied and smiled. She got up and straightened her dress while I ushered her forward.
I looked at her and smiled immediately we got outside, out on the field.
"Well!" She said shooting me a question look like she was ready to get this over with in no time.
"Y'know, sometimes people don't notice what we do until we stop doing it" I started definitely hitting her by surprise. "Do you believe in love at first sight?" I asked and waited anxiously for her response.
"Uhmm...I think...erm..this is unnecessary" she stammered a few words. I could guess what was on her mind, I caught her by surprise. I started to feel remorse and uneasy.
"Please...I know this is crazy and all but I'd really love it if you give me a genuine answer to my question"
"What question?" She asked once more knowing fully well what the question was but choosing to act oblivious. I knew I was losing my chance as the conversation went deeper and more intense, I started to feel mg throat dry and my nervous system was giving me the RED alert.
"Do you believe in love at first sight?" I asked once more in a more composed tone of voice as I felt like I was about to chunder.
"Well, it depends on ermm....the person in question" she said reverently. She continued, "It depends on the looks and the first impression you get the moment you set your eyes on the person"
"That's a very great answer!" I exclaimed.
"Sorry, how is that relevant to me?" She asked.
"I was getting to that, I'll make this straight" I said as I heard my stomach rumble anxiety. "Would you like to go on a date with me?" He asked looking straight into her eyes as she tried to avoid eye contact with me.
"Sorry, you said?"
"Would you like.....to go out on a date with me?"
"Uhmm...No!" She replied.
"Why?!" I asked looking unimpressed.
"I dunno know, its not just right" she replied.
"Really, I'd want nothing but to have a nice dinner in a fancy restaurant with a beautiful girl." I confessed. "Look at you! You're just too amazing to ignore, I might not have get to know you better but I've seen you in a couple of classes and I'd say you're definitely a kinky kind of girl any guy would love to go on a romantic date with"
She smiled seductively as a faint red colouration graced her well tanned face. She etched a quizzical and roguish look on her like she was about to do something indifferent. The field suddenly felt hushful and a gentle breeze graced my face. I looked at her sullenly, anxiously waiting for her reply.
"Uhmm....okay, let's give it a try" she replied finally easing the tension in my system.
"Errm..I'll pick you up, okay" I said smiling. Now my face had changed from being grim to beatific, I tried hard to compose myself cus I couldn't hold back the joy. If she wasn't looking at me, I'd just high and bump my fist in the air but that seem naive and the last thing I'd want is to be caught in the act. I weaved my eye as I watched her walk away swaying her hips from left to right, and damn she was a great sight.
I jerked backwards as I felt the cold wind brush my face, causing clusters of goose bumps burst out on my cheek. I wiped my lower lip with the back of my hands, realised I had been drooling as I watched her walk away. I walked off laughing at myself and at the whole scenario.
