Clover wasn't too thrilled about the idea of leaving her home and going out on a dangerous journey that could get us killed. However, I kind of persuaded her in a way. Our plan was to wait till midnight to go out and leave. Her dad was still home and I had to hide because he hates Unfortunates. I'd run into her closet every time I'd think I heard him.

It was midnight so we grabbed our bags and started to walk towards her window. Our plan was to get out her window and climbed down to run and make a break for it to Dawnlight. I cracked up the side panels on her window and held it open. "Here go, I'll hold it open."

Clover crawled through and was on a part of the roof. I followed and pulled myself up. She stared at me climbing up, I didn't know why exactly. I looked around in the darkness, I saw some markings that looked familiar, like a tree a saw while being trashed and very very far away I saw the wall. "Follow me." I commanded.

I jumped off the roof and held my arms open for her to jump in. She did that and I caught her bridal style. I smiled and put her down and her face got red. I got my rifle ready and a pistol in my back pocket. I didn't give Clover a gun because she doesn't know how to use it. Instead I gave her a knife. We made it only ten feet till I heard a man yelling. "You! Boy! Drop your gun! I'll shoot you if I have to!"

"It's my dad," Clover whispered. "You can shoot him I don't care."

"Clover, I'm not gonna kill him."

"Do something, you'll die if you don't."

I turned around and face him. He kept yelling drop your gun, and I responded with, "you got it pal." Just as I dropped the gun I pulled the trigger making it shoot his foot. He screamed in pain and we had to run. I couldn't believe myself. I just shot Clover's dad.

Clover was behind me running trying to keep up with my speed. I saw a bunt of soldiers surrounding her dad and them searching for us in the distance. All I did was run and I ran as fast as I could. Eventually we needed a break from running and we took camp in a giant, abandoned little cave. I thought it was obvious and stupid but at least it kept us safe.

Clover was laying down and I was sitting on a log. I turned to her, "I'm sorry that I shot your dad."

"It's fine, he used to humiliate me when I was little, it was kind of you to shoot him actually." she laughed. "So tell me about your home."

"Well I live in Dawnlight obviously. And I got hunting everyday with my friends Jax...and uh Andy. Andy is the girl in our group."

"Is she your girlfriend?"

"Uh no, no...she's just a friend."

"Ahuh, just a friend," she smirked, "you like her don't you."

"Why do you care if I do or don't?" I wondered.

"Because.....I like teasing you," she stuttered.

I smiled, "my family wanted me to marry her because the benefits."

"Yeah I know how you feel." Clover sighed, "you're a hunter I take it?"

"Yeah I am I'm a wilderness guy."

She giggled and smiled, "well Mr. Wilderness, I'll let you know when I'm in trouble."

I grinned at her comment and moved on to a different topic, "how old are you?"

"Seventeen."

"Same," I replied, "we should get some sleep.

I laid down and made a little bed for me and her. She got the bigger one and I got the little one. She isn't used to the outdoors. She said thank you to me and fell asleep with goodnight being the last thing she said. I kept watch and looked for anything suspicious that will make us have to run. I made sure nothing was gonna hurt us. I almost fell asleep sometimes but I made sure to stay awake, it was too dangerous to go to Dawnlight now, there's lockdown going on and soldiers looking for us.

After a while, I saw a little wagon moving in the distance. There was stuff in it and I could smell food from here. As it moved I saw a person sitting in a seat moving it. It looked like a girl in the distance but I wasn't sure. I got up with my gun ready. Moving closer, I got a better view. The girl looked injured moving the wagon full of food. I got closer and then I saw who it was. Out of how many people I'd rather be hurt right now, it was Andy. I ran over to her. "Andy!" I would shout. I kept moving faster and faster to the cart. I could barely see her.

I heard her groan out, "Marcus!"

"It's okay I'm here. I'll take you back to safety."
