Down The Water Hole

The plan was laid out and simple (mostly). I would enter into the building and bypass most of the security checkpoints, Ilsa would stop the water from flowing into the torus, allowing Ethan to jump into the liquid cooler and switch the profiles around, giving me access to the computer.

I would then copy over all the information onto two USB sticks (one as a spare), before we would leave and call it day. What could go wrong? Well, technically a hundred and one things could go wrong but I'm trying to look on the positives. Fingers crossed this goes to plan.

Ethan and I parachuted in to the roof of the power plant, throwing signal blankers at the security cameras, before scrunching away our parachutes. Benji had arrived beforehand, entering through the front gate. He had jammed the gates so that we would have enough time to climb into the building and set the cameras back to normal, only then he would make to the gates open at his fake identity card's command.

Ethan and I climbed down a ladder and walked for a while, until we came across a smaller platform. This is the one we would position over the torus. Ethan stuck a mini computer, identically to the one attached to my tablet. Hey Presto, the platform began to move.

"One more time." I addressed Ethan, "You'll have three minutes. Two and a half minutes to switch the security profile, thirty seconds to escape through the service hatch."

"Remember, conserve oxygen. Don't move a muscle if you don't have to." Benji mentioned

Ethan began to suck in copious amounts of air, levelling the oxygen levels on his suit and my tablet to one hundred percent.

"I'm in the elevator." Benji put in

I stopped the platform moving. It was in position. Ethan looked over the edge, sceptically.

"That current will carry you to the torus," I added, "Once you're there, I'll shut it down."

"Important note, the profile is in slot 108. And a slightly more important note. If you haven't switched that profile before I reach the gait analysis, I'm dead." Benji declared, unhelpfully.

"Thank you, Benji" I replied, sarcastically

Ethan tapped the timer on his wrist, which synced to my tablet, put his goggles on and climbed over the railings. He took a couple more deep breaths, before, in one fell swoop, he vanished. Moments later, I cut off the water supply,

As I jumped off the platform, I felt my stomach lurch before plunging into the ice cold waters. I slid down an elongated tunnel for what felt like an eternity before I was flushed out into the torus. The water was practically swinging me around like a lasso before Ilsa cut off the current. That made it easier to swim. However I remembered Benji's warning about as little movement.

With as little movement as possible, I swam to the profile. 108. I had Benji's coded profile card neatly tucked away in my leg pocket. I twisted the lid on the profile to remove it. I grabbed it just, before I realised that the water around me was beginning to shake and vibrate (even if water could do that). Suddenly I was swept off my feet in a swift motion.

The yellow profile cards flew out of my hand, and before I knew it, I was being churned like butter. How was this happening? I thought Ilsa had control of the system. The people running the power plant must have overridden her system. I let the machine spin me around several more times, so I could get close to the profile cards, as they had landed on the ground.

I quickly grabbed them and was instantly blown back in the opposite direction. I had to set the profile in quickly, as my oxygen level was low. I floated to the profile holder and prayed to everyone I knew that the profile I put in was the correct one. I semi-swam to the escape hatch. I tried to pull it but I had run completely out of oxygen. My eyes became heavy. The water was more calmingly cool than freezing. I let the water carry me away to a better place.

The three minutes were up and there was still no sign of Ethan or no evidence that he was out. Was he dead? No I couldn't bear to think that. Without a second thought, I jumped into the torus. When I got down there, Ethan was floating around, no life in his eyes.

I grabbed his body and swam to the escape hatch and pulled the lever. I may be triple crossing with Ethan, Lane and Atlee, but I wasn't going to risk losing a valuable asset.
