The Dead Are Walking

Chapter 17

Elyza's Pov

"A year?" I said shocked as i sat up properlly in the bed.

"Yeah" alicia said. She still hadnt moved not even to pick up the broken glass that she had dropped.

"Well where are we?" I asked her.

Alicia finally bent down and began picking up the broken shards of glass. "An old summer camp building, were in parry sound Niagra falls"

She threw the shards into the garbage before coming over and sitting on the edge of the bed.

"What exactly put me in the coma?" I asked.

"Well" she said and swallowed. "After you saved me from the fire you went back in to help nick. You inhaled too much smoke and you died. I kept giving you CPE until your heart started beating but you never woke up...then we found a group and they had a doctor, she said that it was caused by the walkers bites" she said.

I pushed the blanket off me and gently pulled my shirt up a bit to look at the bite marks. They had healed perfectly and now all you could see were faint teeth marks.

"Alicia?" I heard a voice say from in the hallway. I watched as a boy walked in, he looked about 20 years old. He came in and stared at me.

"Wow your awake" he said, clearly surprised. "We were all convinced that you would never wake up" he said and frowned at Alicia.

"Guess im lucky" i said as i began to stand up. I looked at my clothes, pink shirt and white pants. I looked at Alicia with a confused looked before she walked over to the dresser and picked out a bunch of clothes.

"Your black long sleeve, black skinny jeans, black all stars, and your jacket" she said as she handed them to me. "Theres a bit of a singe mark from the fire but its still good"

I nodded and looked at the boy.

"Oh" Alicia said and pointed to him. "This is Ben" she said with a smile.

Ben smiled and wrapped his arm around her.

I looked away and turned around slowly. "Alright well i gotta change so get out" i said and waited for the door to close.

They seemed an awful lot friendly towards eachother.

I threw on the clothes before opening the door and bumping into a women. She looked maybe a year or two older then me.

"Oh!" She said as she bumped me. "Sorry about that, Alicia told me that you had woken up and i wanted to see for myself that you were okay. Mind if i do a quick check up?" She asked.

I walked around her. "Im fine" i started walking away when i felt her hand grasp my arm.

"Elyza please" she said, holding my stare.

I frowned before nodding and following her back into the room.

I say down on the edge of the bed and watched as she poked me in places asking me if it was numb or anything.

"My name is Abby by the way" she said and smiled at me as she continued to do her examination.

I nodded and looked away.

She rubbed her fingers down my throat. "Any numbing or pain around her throught?"

I shook my head.

"Okay good" she said and stood up. "Well your all good. If you ever need anything just ask" she said and left the room.

I looked around for a moment, takimg in the room before walking out down the hallway. There were 4 other rooms filled with beds, this must have been the dorm rooms for the camp. I opened the door and walked up the stairs that led to a giant lobby where there were about 4 people talking.

"Elyza?" I heard a voice call.

I looked over and smiled as i saw Madison running over. She wrapped her arms around and hugged me tightly.

"Its good to see your okay" she said.

I smiled into the hug before pulling away. "Feels like the best sleep ive ever had" i said.

Madison smiled again. "well if your looking for Alicia i think she went outside with ben" she said with a wi k before walking away.

It was good to know that Alicia had been reunited with her family. But it sucks that i wasnt any help.

I walked through the doors and out onto the top of the hill and looked down the path. There was about 7 people hanging around talking and in the center was alicia.

I cuped my hands together and placed them over my house. "Hey princess!" I shouted to her.

Alicia stopped talking and looked at me. She didnt seem very happy. She walked over and pulled me away.

"You cant call me that here" she whispered.

I looked at her confused. "Ive always called you that and i dont plan on stopping" i said.

She shook her head. "Nobody here knows that we..." she stopped and shook her head.

"What? Kissed? And sex? Nobody knows what Princess?" I snapped.

She glared at me. "Im with Ben now and thats all that matters"

"Wow" i said chuckling. "Didnt take you much time to move on, did it?" I said. "Guess you didnt mean it when you said you loved me" i turned and started walking away.

"You need to stop calling me princess!" She yelled after me.

I turned and looked at her, winkimg as i walked away. "Like hell i do"
