The Dead Are Walking

Chapter 26

(Im in a hostpital getting help that i really need. Just letting you guys know that, since like i went from posting three or four times a day to posting once a day. Im here for at LEAST a month and if im doing better then they will let me leave so just bare with me haha)

Alicia's Pov

I looked at Elyza's limp body. It had been 6 hours since she died and now everyone was crowded into the room, telling me they were sorry that i had lost my best friend. I hated that thats how people saw her.

Ben walked over to me. "Im so sorry...i know how close you two were" he said, trying to comfort me.

I shook my head. "No you dont" i said. "None of you do" i walked over to Elyza and Abby. "She wasnt just my bestfriend" i said as tears started to stream down my face. "I was in love with her" i whispered, but it was so quiet in the room that everyone heard.

"What?" Ben spoke up.

I wiped my face. "I love her, i have since i met her" i said softly and apolagetically.
(Mind my spelling :/ )

"Did she know that?" He asked.

I bit my lip and nodded. "Yeah, i mean...we were together" i said.

Ben took a step back, i could see the brokeness in his eyes.

"Im so sorry...i just..i didnt know how to tell you" i said.

He shook his head and walked out of the room. The rest of the people hugged me one last time and left, and then it was just me, Abby, Elyza, my mom and Travis left in the room.

My mom walked over to me. "Is that true?" She asked and i looked at her confused. "You were in love with her?"

I swallowed hard and nodded. "I really am"

She came over and sat next to me hugging me tightly. "Im so sorry baby" she whispered as i began to sob again. Travis came over and joined the hug. "Its gonna be so hard. But you will move on, dont worry"

We all pulled apart and my mom cupped my face in her hands. "I have to believe that something good will come out of this" she whispered. "Everything happens for a reason" she said and kissed my cheek before getting up and following Travis out of the room, shutting the door behind them.

I turned and looked at Elyza. "She looks like a walker" i said. Her skin had turned to a light grey, her lips chapped, the only thing that kept her youthful glow was her hair.

I stroked the hair and cried. "You were so beautiful" i said and wiped my eyes. I didnt know it was possible to cry this much, i could feel myself getting dehydrated by the lack of water in my system.

"God i love you so much" i whispered before looking at Abby, "you must think im crazy" i said. "Talking to a dead girl"

Abby shook her head. "I was talking to her earlier when you left to tell everyone. Its good. It help to cope" she said.

I nodded and looked back at the body again. "We would have gotten married" i said. "Even in this shitty world we would have done it. We had only spent a few weeks together before her coma, but i knew i would spend the rest of my life with her if i could"

Abby frowned. "I just wish that i had known sooner. I wish she had died knowing how much i love her" she said, tears streaming down her cheeks.

"She did" i responded. "She was mad because its all so new, so confusing. But she knew you loved her"

Abby smiled. "You think?"

I nodded and leaned over, giving her a tight hug. "I know"

After we pulled apart Abby stood back up again. "I think im gonna go for a walk...get some fresh air. Would you like to join me?" She asked.

I was about to say yes, but then i shook my head. "No. It will be good for me to be alone with her for awhile" i said with a slight smile.

Abby nodded and walked out of the room. Closing the door as she left.

I sighed and then looked back at Elyza. Even in this state she was still beautiful. I noticed some splotches on her face where the skin had gotten slightly more colour. I looked at it, confused.

"Thats weird" i said and leaned in for a closer look. The skin around her mouth and eyes had retreated slightly. It was still grey but it had a more beigy tone to it. Almost as if she had just died moments ago and the colour was just starting to drain from her.

I opened her eyelids, her eyes had changed. They were still as bright as the sky but their was something different about them. They were glossy, but her eyes were still her eyes.

Then out of nowhere the grey from her face completly changed and went back to her normal colour. And she sat up quickly.

I looked at the blonde wide eyed "Elyza?" I said stunned.

She looked at me and smirked. "Hey princess"

****I already have the next few chapters done and i feel like you guys are going to hate me...****
