Now, as magical as James and Joan are, their routines are incredibly ordinary. Joan always wakes up first and lays in bed writing until James brings her her coffee, and sits on her bed drinking his tea, talking about the day ahead. James goes into the clinic early on Monday mornings to set up the schedule and pick up paper work, replacing the new paperwork with the completed ones he'd completed the week before, while Joan goes in every morning for two hours five days a week to meet her clients and collect her paperwork and like James replacing the new ones with completed ones. James would be the first home out of the two, washing the utensils from that morning and after, he starts on the serenity spell knowing Joan had a client midday. He put the decorative pot on the stove and filled it with warm milk, he added cinnamon sticks, vanilla and honey, putting the stove on a heat that was hot enough to allow the smell to spread over the house, he then started chanting; 'Light be bright within the soul, emerge from night, safe and whole, peace is ours at this time, piercing dark, our light shall shine, for now, for more and ever true, with light and love we are imbued.' After that was done he set a timer for an hour to remind him to refill the with fresh milk.
Midday rolled around quite quickly, Joan got home with barely enough time to change out of her lawyer clothes. While she was still finding her notepad and a pen that actually worked, James got the door for a very grumpy looking Vampire. Looking him up and down James would put him at 300 odd years old, judging from his clothing, older vampires usually wear something that related to their birth era. James slapped on a huge grin and welcomed the man into his home, the vampire who James is soon to learn the name of, didn't seem to appreciate James's happy go lucky look. Leading him into Joan and James' shared office, Joan welcomed the vampire in.
'Alexander! It's great to finally see you again! Come! Sit!' Joan beamed at him, patting the soft mulberry sofa.
'So, what can I do for you?' Joan's curiosity peaked whenever Alexander came to her. He was not a man who asked for help willy nilly.
'I may or may not have gotten cursed by a witch that I may or may not have been trying to eat.' Alexander said quickly trying to sound innocent and calm but of course failing miserably, usually he was not one whose demeanor easily broke but he felt so relaxed around them, they were like the sweet elderly couple who gives kids cookies and are friends with everyone and he kind of loved that, there was never judgement or negativity just hot tea and a friendly smile, and sometimes, that's all you need. Don't giggle, do not giggle. Joan thought to herself, straining to keep her face neutral until she heard a forgotten James snickering in the corner.
'In my defense, I was hungry and she just invited me in with that malicious smile adoring her smug face which I guess was a warning, but oh my god she smelt too delicious to think straight around.' Alexander rambled trying to make her sound enticing. Only a vampire James snorted to himself.
There home maybe a beacon of comfort but that didn't mean they couldn't have some harmless 'banter'(as James called it) with clients. It turned out that the curse the witch put on Alexander was a harmless one, It only made him turn outrageous colors whenever he was flirting, which James thought was the funniest curse he'd ever heard of and wanted every detail so he could use it on Joan.
