Joan and James are no stranger to betrayal, but these days who isn't? Opening their home to strangers in need wasn't always as pleasant a experience as Alexander was, they had made enemies by helping those that sought out their help. That caused a lot of break ins, threats and full on fights but they brushed it off, repaired what had been damaged and continue with a bit more caution. They always had precautions set in place, to protect them from anything, well almost anything. Witches were, judgemental when it came to who is really a witch and who are posers, they never really knew what to think with Joan and James, with little to none supernatural background most were convinced they were just full of tricks and placebos. This made pure blood witches pissed, outraged that "posers" are getting so much trust and reward from a community that witches need to survive off, Alphas never spare any expense when it comes to the safety of there pack. But what made things worse for the witches is that Joan and James didn't depend of the werewolves and vampires to get by, no they had jobs. Which made them more popular because they only wanted old books and baked goods as payment, what witch can compete with that bullshit? So, a plan was set into place. A coven decided to take away the things they were famous for, their kindness, their warm, anything that made them kind or selfless, this coven had plan to destroy that side of them. Permanently.
Joan and James wasn't expecting visitors or any kind of attack, they had made enough friends that if someone came onto their land they would be told immediately, making any surprises impossible. But this time, the surprise was not ruined and oh didn't the poor "posers" get an awful fright.
