I couldn't breathe. Not that I needed to Up Here but I still had that huge block in my throat. "You can't do that!" I hadn't noticed I was crying until I heard myself speak.
"Oh, actually we can. The more people that go into The Light, the less people like you, that we have to deal with." Harsh.
"But they are my family. You don't have the right to kill them. Besides you can't go down there and have physical contact with people. I can't believe this, you are just trying to scare me into The Light. Scare me into forgeting my family!"
"No. That is not what I am doing. I am simply warning you. But I will make you a deal. Would you like that?" he asked with a wide smile.
"Whats your deal?" I asked quietly.
"The deal is, we will only begin to kill your family in a week, but until then we will cause them great pain. Such as getting them into a car accident, or maybe putting thoughts in their head so that they will kill themselves." I wait patiently for him to give me the other terms of the deal. "This is where you come in. You can save your whole family, if you go to The Light." To most this would be a simple decision, go to The Light and my family will be saved. But its not that easy, I can't just leave my family, I need to protect them-
"Whats going on here?"
"Garret!" I sighed with relief. "This man is trying to scare me towards The Light by "killing" my family off one by one." I stated.
"You should leave now." Garret glared at the man, who's name I still didn't know. "Kara, we have to go now. The dance is going to start soon, we don't want to be late." he ushered the man out the door.
"Oh." the man began. "Kara before I go, you should know that the council and I, we don't mess around, we get things done, when things need to get done." with that he left.
We waited a few minutes before we left so we didn't run into him again. Garret knows something I need to ask him, but I can wait, I can't stand anymore stress, this dance has to get my mind off of it. We drove for about another 20 mintues, 10 minutes more than we should be driving.
"Garret where are we going?" I looked for any sort of landmarks to indicate where we were.
"We are going to The Light."
"What! I trusted you, I thought you understood me." I tried opening the car door.
"Kara stop. That man wasn't trying to scare you. He will kill your loved ones."
"How do you know? You couldn't possibly know!" I kept trying to get out of the car.
"Because he killed mine."
