Imagine:

You were upset because your boyfriend, Chad, recently broke up with you. You invited your best friend, Tom, over for an ice cream and movies night.

"Hey, Desiree!" Tom smiled when he got to your house. "Hi Tom," you reply laughing as he gives you a big bear hug. When his skin touched yours you almost felt a little bit of a shock. You used to really like Tom as more of a friend, but he was a famous boy band member now so it would just make things more complicated if you admitted that to him. "Can we talk?" Tom asked. "Tom, I don't really want to take about Chad," you sigh. "No, not about that. Come sit." Tom said. You cautiously sit down next to him on the couch. "I just want to start off by saying that Chad didn't deserve you. He was just a douche and he did you a favor by breaking up with you." Tom said. "Tom... that sounds insulting to me." You say, laughing because you know he didn't mean it that way. "I mean, if he hadn't done that, you'd still be with that asshole." Tom said. "I know. Thanks, Tom." You say. "Wait, I'm not done. Desiree, you deserve someone who'll treat you right and never hurt you. Someone who truly cares about you..." he began. "And I promise to do that." Your eyes widen as you realize what he's doing. "I've had feelings for you for years I just... didn't want to complicate our relationship. I was so jealous when you went out with Chad and now I realize why... Desiree, I'm in love with you." Tom says.

You stare at him shocked. How, all of these years, had you both felt this way but the other never knew? "Will you be my girlfriend?" He asked. You felt so happy in that moment that you forgot about Chad and everything else. You realized you love Tom too. Happily, you nod. "Yes, Tom. And I love you too." You smile. With that, you began your new relationship with a kiss.
