**Helllooo humans, above is a cover I made for this book just to highlight the main characters, and who they are being played by in my mind. Feel free to imagine your own**

...

Athena's hair flew back in the harsh wind, the icy breeze tinged her cheeks slightly red. She had to squint in order to take in the breathtaking scenery. Her mind had always wandered why people liked to drive fast and 'live on the edge'. And now she understood why. It was the thrill of the ride.

It was the surprises. The blurry scenery and the thought of moving forward even when your feet weren't touching the ground.

And in that moment, she felt alive.

The bike slowly came to a halt near a coffee shop in their neighbourhood.

Athena hopped off and observed the place. She had had coffee there a few times, and it was the best she had ever tasted. But after losing her job, she didn't have money to dish about on her own pleasures. It was as if she was trying to survive just another day.

Jamal took out the keys and the engine turned off.

"Shall we?" He turned towards her and extended an arm, trying to seem fancy. Athena let out a small laugh and walked into the shop, while Jamal followed with a smile plastered across his face.

They took their seat by the window. The wooden chairs made a sqeaky noise as they sat down.

They sat in an awkward silence before a 20-ish looking waitress stopped at their table.

Athena did not fail to notice her green orbs checking out Jamal's body. Her eyes ran over him like an animal who hadn't eaten for days. She disgusted Athena.

But somewhere inbetween Athena's disgust, a deep emotion was hidden. An emotion that caused her to turn her eyes away from the girl and look at Jamal.

But she was surprised to see that he was only looking at her. He didn't even glance at the waitress.

The waitress cleared her throat,
"What can I get for you?" She wasn't looking at Athena.

"Jamal?" Athena spoke waving her hand in front of his face.

He snapped out of his dream-like state and looked at the waitress.

"Two coffee's please," He ordered on behalf of Athena.

Athena didn't reply. How could she tell him that she didn't have enough money for a coffee. That in her attempt to escape from Daniel, she had forgotten her wallet?

She decided not to say anything until the waitress walked away, deliberately swaying her body side to side.

Athena rolled her eyes. She hated women like her who tried to use their beauty to prey on their weak male counterparts. She internally scoffed.

"So, where were you off to so bright and early in the morning?" Jamal piped up, leaning his chin on his palm. It was as if there was a permanent smile plastered to his face.

"I was supposed to be going to the museum, but that stalker Roman ruined my whole day," Athena had no idea why, but she could openly speak to this guy without wanting to strangle him or walk away.

She hadn't felt like that in a long time. It was like she had finally found a friend she could confide in. Someone who wanted to hear how her day had been, and someone who wanted to hear what was going on in her messed up head.

She had no idea why she hadn't given him a chance earlier...

Jamal leaned forward, staring into her eyes, as if he had never seen anything like them before.
