Max was watching the hospital entrance for the sight of his mate. His thoughts all jumbled, until he saw her and the doc come out, I felt excitement and relief come over me. I felt less tense and more at ease, as she did by coming outside.

George drove up in front of them. The doc had mentioned earlier that my mate did not understand us nor know what she is and how her body works. I watched George lift my mate into the car's back seat and buckle her up. His beta folded the wheel chair and placed it in the trunk, slammed the hatch and stepped back. Then George got in the car and we drove to his pack house. I guess Rin wanted to talk to his mate, because he stayed behind.

My name is Min... I copied the sentence and read it out loud. They started to teach me how to write in sentences. I already can understand most of what everyone says around me and can read at a high level. I once overheard George the Alpha of this pack tell Max that I was a genius. This made me feel proud but also isolated from the rest of the pack. I had the feeling they thought something was wrong with me. My inner thoughts took over, Ever since I came here a month ago; I haven't been in wolf form. This worried me. Wright now I was finishing writing my sentence.

"Done?" asked Max.

I nodded and handed in my work to George. He looked it over and gave me a star on the paper. I know it was childish but I worked hard to received stars, they kept me from warring. I grinned and was allowed to leave the room. Before I left George stopped me.

"Mina, today we are going to practice to take wolf shape."

I knew the whole pack was made of werewolves, but had not shifted since I learned about it myself. I nodded and left the room. His news made me nervous. What if I can't? The whole pack met outdoors in the back yard two hours later. Considering the house was surrounded by trees from all sides. It made it hard to tell which was the back, or the front of the house. Max came close to me, and explained to me how to transform. I tried, I really did, but nothing happened. Now it has been a week since and I still can't transform. So George assigned me to guard the kids and pups, while the parents are out for a run. A month went by, there has been no change with my shift, but my studies were excellent. I can now write reports, read and speak, as well as use different martial arts and weapons.

During the middle of April, an incident changed everything.

Mina was babysitting the young that day. Others were out on a run. There were seven kids left in my care. There were thirteen, however since others became of age, they went for their first transformation and run. I was inside the house telling a story to the kids, when i heard the sound of the window breaking, in burst three medium size brown wolves.

I had moved in front of the kids, as soon as I heard the window shatter and stood on guard.

Then the first wolf to my right spoke, "Give us the pups and we will not hurt you."The other two started to laugh at his words.

All of a sudden a feeling of power pushed it self-threw me. In seconds I was a pony size wolf. All three of the intruders froze. I growled my displeasure, then seeing out of the Conner of my left eye, movement. I then knew there were four of them. When all three jumped towards me, I attacked. The first three were dead within minutes, but the forth gave me a pause. He tried to jump from behind while I was at the throat of the third wear. By this time the pups have hid under their beds. I got scratched but I twisted my head and ripped his throat out. All were dead in five minutes, tops. Not that I was letting it go to my head, it was just the adrenalin.

Others of the pack rushed in for battle in the next few minutes.

George, felt something was wrong, and rushed with the pack back home. When they reached the house, they saw the window was broken in the nursery. George rushed in with his warriors, leaving the parents and rest of the pack outside.

Max followed him. As they entered they smelled blood then saw a large wolf standing near the kids.

George was about to attack, when Max jumped in front of him and blocked his way.

Max instantly knew it was his mate. When he saw George prepare to attack, he jumped in front of him. I then transformed in to my human shape. Calmly while standing in front of George I spoke in a gentle tone."George she is Mina, she was doing her job guarding the kids while you were out with the pack. She is not the enemy, she is a friend."

George sniffed the air once more, then calmed down but did not relax completely. After transforming back to human, he asked me to step aside.

Max knew George would not hurt his mate, but he was still nervous about his slightly tense posture.

George trusted Max, however the size of the wolf behind him near the kids put him on edge. He never saw a wolf this big. She was the size of a full grown donkey. George watched Mina lay down on the floor in front of the kids and rests her head in her front paws. The kids approached her as if she has just finished a bed time story and they must've been really tiered because they all looked sleepy. When they approached her they lay down near her, some even lay their heads on her. He watched her for any aggressive movement, but she relaxed and closed her eyes. After this George relaxed completely. The whole time he was watching Mina, Max was talking to him in a calm voice.

Max inner thoughts ran, I must've said she was a friend, like a hundred times. Finally I saw him completely relax. The parents took their kids, fed them and put them to sleep an hour later, after the patrol confirmed no intruders. I sat next to my mate the whole time, not realizing I was scratching behind her ears.
