~Rae's POV~

I gave her a glass of water. I noticed that her hand was still shaking, but she was curious. "Tell me! What did you do?"

I sighed and looked over at Jared. He just nodded and sat down on his chair.

"We gave you the healing cube." I said, holding up the box.

"Why did you help me? I hate you!"

"I know."

"Then why do you bother to help me?"

"You're my friend." I said a bit too blunt.

"Liar! I'm your enemy!"

"Okay, I'll let you believe what you want." I said, giving her a went rag. "You might want to wipe off the blood on your arm."

She snatched it away from my hand and stomped off to the bathroom. Jared snorted. "Someone's stubborn."

I smiled. "Oh well. Want some coffee? I'm going to get one myself."

"Sure."

I went out of the room and headed to the kitchen. There were five other maids at the stove or island. They all glanced at me nervously before heading elsewhere, away from me. I didn't blame them for being scared of me. I wouldn't mind. Not now and probably not ever. I brew the coffee and and grabbed a pack of sugar from the cabinet. I made another cup in case Vanessa was still there. I went back without a spill this time. I knocked on the door. Jared opened with a smile.

"You got it without a spill this time!" He cheered. I laughed.

"That's what I thought too. Is there going to be an apocalypse?" I gasped, pretending to look around nervously.

He chuckled opening the door wide open. Vanessa was still there, but having a hard time wiping the blood off cleanly. I set the tray down and helped her. I hovered my hand over her arm. The blood floated off and into the sink. Her arm was dry and clean. She whipped her head to another direction.

"I could've done that without your help." She mumbled. I giggled getting her cup of coffee. "How many sugar cubes do you want?"

She looked up at me with surprise, but dropped to a small frown. "Ten." She mumbled.

I handed her the cup. She took sips and stared out the window.

"What's wrong?" I asked, handing Jared his cup. She didn't answer, but continued to stare. I sighed at drank my coffee, straight black. I like bitter and sweet snacks, but most likely bitter things. I didn't notice her peering over at my cup.

"You drink it straight?" She asked. I jumped, nearly spilling my cup. "Um uh, yeah."

"Wow, I thought you were the sweet type." She commented.

I smiled. "I am, it's just that I like bitter more than sweet treats."

She examined me before giving me an approving nod. "Yeah, now that I think about it, you look like a person who likes bitter too."

I chuckled. "How could you tell just by looking?"

She shrugged and picked up her cup from the counter and took a sip. "How does it taste?"

I stared at my cup for the cup for a moment before saying, "Bitter."

She rolled her eyes. "State the obvious." She said under her breath. I grinned and drank it. "It's true though."

Jared was just sitting there, listening to our conversation. "You guys get along well."

She looked surprised, but then glared at him. "I hate her!"

"Of course you do." Jared mumbled with a smile, reading his medical book.

"It's true!"

"Right."

She puffed and stomped to the door. She halted and walked back to me. "Thank you." She said in a hushed voice and stormed off. Was it just me, or did she look embarrassed? I smiled as she slammed the door.

"At least that's progress in making friends." Jared smiled, looking over at the door.

I leaned on the counter and drank the rest of the coffee. "Yep."
