“Such drama, Son of Taurus.” A husky low voice suddenly said.

I opened my eyes and was shock with what I saw. Well, of course I was and who wouldn’t? I was inside Clifford’s huge mouth. I could see his trachea and uvula frozen like rock. Clifford didn’t budge and there wasn’t any sign of air coming in or out – like he wasn’t breathing at all.

“What the—” my voice echoed through his throat.

I was sure I was upside down because blood was rushing down my head. I kicked my feet through the air as I tried to relieve myself from Clifford’s grasp – er mouth. But to no luck, my efforts were futile.

“Need some help?” I heard the husky low voice once again.

“No, I can manage, sir.” I lied.

I struggled once more. I squirmed with all my force but still without luck.

“Why don’t you try pushing?” he chuckled like he knew what he was saying.

I did. I pushed with all my might until I was gasping for air. Sweat was dripping down my face and my brain is slowly malfunctioning to the sudden blood rush. Suddenly, my forehead glowed and I felt warm inside. I felt strength rushed through every vein – or more like every cell – of my body. Scared of what was happening, I slowly poked Clifford’s rock tongue. At first, it didn’t budge but then it started cracking and suddenly blew up. I launched away from Clifford’s rock monument and hit my back on the vine rack decoration in front of the library.

“Ow that hurt.” I groaned.

“Took you a while, Son of Taurus.” He said, reaching out his hand to help me up.

“Thanks.” I said, taking his hand as I cleaned my back with my free hand.

“Don’t mention it.” He said, brushing his hair with his hand as he walked back to the Clifford monument.

“Do I know you?” I asked, trailing behind him.

“No,” he replied as he climbed Clifford’s back.

He got an arm-length blade with glowing markings off Clifford’s back. The blade had this hole just at the bottom of its handle which helped him play with the blade like it was some helicopter blades. When he went back to where he left me, he caught the blade and swiftly placed it in his arm band.

“Well, not yet.” The corners of his mouth tugged up into a smirk. “I’m Aragon, the Guardian of Pisces since 1945.”

I was shocked with his introduction. The fact that he said he was a guardian was shocking. Anyone would’ve been shocked too. But the most shocking thing about what he said was that it was since 1919. How old was he? Ninety-four years old? He practically looked like a middle aged man, thirty years old at most. His hair was wavy dark blonde and his beard trimmed like spikes connecting his side burns. Besides that, he had a buff body that seemed like he was only working out even with his free time.

“Uhmmm okay.” I said. “So what now?”

“Now?” he asked, staring up to the roof. “We save your friends.”

I started walking to the Library entrance but I was stopped with a pinky at the tip of my collar.

“What?” I asked, almost choking from that force.

“After Pisces finishes Emillia.” He continued.

“You mean Emily.” I corrected.

“Whatever.” He chuckled.

I sighed and waited beside him when Clifford monument suddenly caught my gaze once more. It was peculiarly looking now with its head completely off. Rubbles – ranging from dusts to small rocks - which seemed the remains of Clifford’s head scattered on the floor.

“Hey.” I called unto Aragon who took a look through his shoulder.

“What?”

“Did you do this?”

“The rock effect? With the blade, yeah.”

“No, I mean this mess on the floor.”

“That’s you. You did that.”

I stared at him blankly and chuckled a little, finding out he had some kind of humor in him. His eyebrows furrowed as he turned to face me. He tilted his head to the side and raised his hand to brush his beard.

“Don’t tell me you don’t know, Son of Taurus.” He finally said after a long moment of silence.

“Know what?” I confusingly asked.

“That you are—”

Suddenly, a loud screech came from up the roof and came down flying Emily Elizabeth. She hit the ground, drifted through the mud and stopped just beside Clifford monument. She was crying and her mascara and eye liner was a mess.

“What have you done with my pup?!” she shouted, as she crawled up Clifford’s tail. “You’re going to pay for this! I tell you, you’re all going to die!”

“Emily,” I whispered to myself just so only I could hear the guilt and pity reeking down my throat.

A splash suddenly materialized in front of Emily, who was crying and wailing in pain as she supported her weight while hugging Clifford’s tail. It was a guy when the splash subsided. He was a about my age. He was wearing a black hoodie which was quite big for his small and chubby-ish body type. He raised his tanned hand and combed his black hair before he reached out to Emily’s forehead.

“Rest, Emily.” He said, strong but gentle, under the heavy rain which I hardly caught. “You’re tired.”

Upon the contact between his two fingers and Emily’s forehead, she suddenly shined like the sun and disappeared with a loud blast which pulverized Clifford’s rock monument.

“Cool.” I absentmindedly said.

“Nice to meet you, Son of Taurus.” He turned around, a smirk plastered on his face when his bark wood brown eyes met mine. “I’m Jay Sindino Valera, Son of Pisces.”
