"So you sure you can get this... um"
"Jamie"
"Yes him. Jamie. Can you get him on board?"
"Um..." She contemplated it for a little. Wondering if this will be the best idea. I'll keep him safe no matter what. ", yes... yes I can"
"Ok then its settled. He will find out where my long lost friend is and then we will get him to join you on your real mission."
"I have a feeling this isn't going to be good."
"It's a gamble I know but you were the one who wanted to get involved in this right?"
She bit her lip and looked at the side.
"Yeah."
"We can always stop..."
"NO! We are not going to forget this!"
"Alright Karli..." Ben raised his hands as if there was a gun being pointed at him. Well... at least not this time that is.
"Alright Ben... its settled."
"Great! When you get him over board we'll then discuss the timing."
"yeah..." Said Karli. With her regret still looming over her head.
"Hey Jamie!" Karli called over the cell phone after another busy Friday. She was able to land yet another landslide this time as she usually does. Jamie had gotten actually quite a lot better at selling stocks. He may not have talent but he has persistence.
She can sense the boss leaning on to him a bit more now. But only a bit, he is going to need a long while to reach Karli's skill.
"Hey Karli! How's it been?"
"Oh you know, the weekends are finally here!"
"Yes! And back to working all weekend long."
She let out a small laugh at that one. Fake yes, but necessary. She can tell he was smiling on the other side. His teeth did have a nice gleam to his smile though.
"So I've been wondering if you can... perhaps..." I gotta do this! But I don't want Jamie to be dragged into this. Remember Karli! You said you will take care of him.
She recapped on that and continued on.
"My pal Benjamin. I think he has some issue he needs to deal with. In another city. And I was wondering if you can... perhaps..." Oh God. I shouldn't be doing this. ", help us out?"
She opened her eyes after closing them shut tight. She felt too embarrassed and ashamed for what she's doing to poor Jamie.
"Um... well. I do have the time so why not?"
"Really? Great! Come to my house and then we'll meet up with him tomorrow."
"Alright. Sounds like a plan."
"Bye James! And thanks so much for helping me out!"
"No problem."
She hung up first and laid on her bed. Staring at the ceiling of her apartment with all the little stars that glow in the dark still there after so much time. Ten years... been some time. Her father bought her those for her birthday.
She would always stay ten minutes in bed just looking at those fake stars until she went to be. She then asked her dad to fix them into the different constellations that she wanted and he would gladly do it all for her. Just to see her smile and laugh.
Why did you leave dad... why is mom dead.
A tear came in her eyes. It was very lonesome for her without having parents to take care of you in your teens. Its just been so lonely.
At least now she has her friends and her job. She's safe, for now that is. She can just forget about all that's happening now. She doesn't necessarily have to do this. She can forget all about her past and just continue on with her life. Trying her best to just get by and hopefully find some guy to marry and have her own kids which she'll never let go of.
I would never do the same to my kids. I would rather die... knowing that I protected them. Perhaps that's what her mother did. The same could go for her father. She doesn't know the whole story to be exact. She can't jump to conclusions just yet. But she will find him no matter what. You will tell me why you did this to me Dad!
She remembered Jamie again. I have to take care of him as we're off to that hell hole of a city. He still has no clue what he's going up against soon enough.
