"Just one more picture."

I went up and held the lens. "Mom, we have to go if we want to be on time."

She gave me a sad smile. "You are so old, I wish you were just a toddler pretending to go to a prom instead of really going to one." I gave her the best hug I could and me and Cal went out front to his truck.

"We have to go pick up Evan and Rayne."

His grip tightened on the wheel. "Why did you invite them to come with us, couldn't we just have met them there?"

I shrugged awkwardly, "It's more fun this way. I guess."

He musn't've heard me properly because he was smoothing his hair back in the mirror. Paying no attention to anything I was saying. I let out a small sigh and felt the hope dripping away.

"Let's go in." He spoke jumping out of the truck before I could say anything. We got to Evans house without my realizing. I slowly and carefully, in heels, climbed out of the tall truck. I lifted my dress from the ground and hobbled as closely to Cal as I could.

Knock Knock Knock.

Knock.

Knock Knock Knock Knock Knock Kno-

"Stop, you can't expect the to answer in 4 seconds." I hissed at him. It was the first time I was able to get so much as a word out. That he would hear at least.

He put on a disgusted face. "What pissed in your cornflakes this morning?"

I crossed my arms getting fed up, about to rip him a new one when Rayne opened the door in a really pretty floor length green dress, and matching earrings. "Guys come on in, his dad wants us to take group pictures."

I immediately stepped through the doorway to get away from crazy face. Rayne politely closed the door behind us and spoke again, "He takes forever to get ready. If I knew that I wouldn't have invited him." She laughed nervously.

Cal practically spat his glass of water everywhere. "You asked him? That's a riot." He trailed of taking another drink.

This is going to take way too long.
