Spoilers for A New Hope below

((Story takes place right after the Battle of Yavin in A New Hope))

It had been a long day on Yavin 4, and you were beyond exhausted. However, you weren't that upset or unpleasant.

You had just witnessed the destruction of the Death Star. It was wonderful, seeing that planet killing machine being blown up by the Rebellion.

However, this battle was not without casualties. The X-wing pilots tried their best, but Luke and Wedge were the only survivors. You had known most of the pilots personally. Biggs, Porkins, Garven...

You needed a little time to yourself.

You opened the door to your bunk and laid down on the bed, staring at the ceiling. Your conflicting emotions battled, depression and glee.

You heard a soft knock at your door. "Come in." you said sullenly.

You saw it was the beautiful Princess Leia. Well, she wasn't exactly a princess anymore. Her home planet had been blown up by the Death Star.

"Are you alright?" she asked.

"I'm fine."

"Really?"

"I should be asking if YOU'RE alright." you replied.

"I'm okay... kind of... you should be joining the celebration! There's food, drinks, cake..."

"Not feeling up to it right now. Maybe later."

"Are you sure you're alright, (Y/N)?"

"I just don't know what to think about our victory. Sure, the Death Star is blown up, but we lost almost all our pilots."

"I'm sure those pilots knew what they were facing back there. Those pilots willingly laid their lives on the line for this cause... I'm sure they wouldn't have had it any other way."

"Thanks for the reassurance, Leia."

"Anytime, (Y/N)."

You followed Leia out of your room to the victory celebration.
