Arthur woke up and moved closer to his warm pillow until he realized it wasn't a pillow he was moving towards. Pulling away slightly he looked up and found himself wrapped in Alfred's arms, the warmth from his body relaxing Arthur and making him feel protected. He laid there for what felt like years listening to his light snores, watching his tanned chest rise and fall with each breath he took.
Raising his hand to Alfred's face he lightly stroked the Americans cheek and smiled as he saw his eye lids flutter open. "Good morning love."
A smile slipped onto Alfred's face as he tightened his grip around Arthur's waist and pulled them closer together. "Good mornin' darlin'," he replied with a sleepy voice thickening his accent.
His heart fluttered wildly as Alfred's words reached his ears, Arthur wasn't able to stop the light blush across his face. After a moment of looking into Alfred's eyes he looked down at his chest once again and became nervous about everything on his mind. With the thought of them now being something, boyfriends, lovers, or friends with benefits he knew Alfred would be leaving. Just thinking about it cracked Arthur's heart into pieces but he forced his feeling away and smiled at the American. "Are we still having our, um, date today?" He asked quietly as he peaked through his eye lashes up at Alfred and was suprised to find a bright smile on his face.
Quickly nodding his head Alfred sat up out of the bed and threw his covers off. "Hell yeah we are dude," he said excitedly as got out of the bed and slipped his breifs and pants back on. As he walked to Arthur's side of the bed he leaned over and kissed his temple. "Would you like to go home and shower? I'll come and pick you up when I'm ready?"
Arthur nodded and got up slipping on his dirty clothes and walked to the door before stopping and turning around to face Alfred with a small smile. "Thank you," was all he said before going back to his own apartment.
As a smile slipped on to Alfred's face he went to his bathroom and stripped down, taking a shower. He thought about how he finally had Arthur all to himself and estatic that they shared feelings. Thoughts of going back to the states soon made him shudder and he bit his lip, not wanting to leave him for very long.
Once Alfred was done in the shower he got out and changed into decent clothing so he wouldn't disappoint Arthur. He grabbed everything he needed before hearing his phone ring.
"Hello?"
"Alfred. I just got the work that you sent. We don't need anymore and deem this enough for the book, I'll add more that I see fit," Matthew said tiredly from having read everything he sent.
"Cool dude. So what do you need?" Alfred was confused as to why his brother had called him to tell him that simple information.
"Well its about the dedication in the beginning. Are you sure that is what you want?"
Alfred chuckled remembering the note he left in the email and felt hi self nodding his head. "Yeah. I tend to hot change my mind. Will you have a quick print sent to me? I need one."
They argued for a moment about Alfred having a copy but eventually gave in before telling him he would have one in a few days, but needed to go home. Alfred sighed and shook his head before leaving and going to Arthur's apartment, knocking on the door.
The brit answered with a sweet smile as he locked the door behind himself. "Hello love. Are you ready to go?" He asked as he took Alfred's hand and led him to the street. As his mood improved so did the date, they walked around the city, going into different shops and stores, as well as the historical sites. Once they were tired and the sun was starting to set they hailed a cad and went back to their apartments.
"This was a fantastic date Arthur. Thanks for taking me out," he said as he paid for the cab. Alfred walked Arthur up to his apartment door and stood there with him for a moment, just taking a moment to look into each others eyes. "Well I guess this is it Arthur. I'll see you tomorrow." As he let go of Arthur's hand he walked to his door and unlocked it sad he didn't get to spend more time together.
Arthur pouted but didn't want Alfred to go away just yet. He grabbed his strong arm and pulled him down for a loving kiss. As their bodies pressed close, hands tangle in hair, and lips glue together the affection never became heated. It was a more needy and pained contact they both gave knowing they may not be together for very long.
Tears fell from Arthur's eyes knowing he would miss this when Alfred left and he pulled away for air. He leaning into the Americans warm hands when they wiped his tears away, his lips peppering kisses on his face.
"Please don't cry Arthur. Tell me what I can do to stop them," he whispered soothingly into Arthur's ear as he pulled the brit into his arms. Alfred nuzzled in his hair feeling as if he already knew what was wrong. "I can come back Arthur. I don't have to be gone for long."
Arthur felt his body give in to Alfred's inviting warmth and nodded. "Promise?" He asked quietly as he looked up at him hopefully, not wanting to be tricked and hurt. A smile slipped on Alfred's face and he nodded before pecking Arthur's lips.
"I promise to never hurt you on purpose."
