Tim's POV
I hopped out of the truck and told Katie to go to Gabby, she needed some down time. I turned and started giving instructions and told the teenagers coming out of the gym's back door to start unpacking the truck. We had the truck unloaded and everything put up in two hours. I walked through the back door and walked to the man in the kitchen.
"I need an inventory of everything we have and everything we just brought in, and I need a good secretary."
"Sure thing, go talk to Lyn Moore, she'll have all that for you." He replied turning back to his work.
I walked out the door and looked around the cramped area full of students and parents. I walked out of the metal building and under the breezeway searching for the woman the man in the kitchen mentioned. I noticed a woman with a clipboard and talking animatedly with someone holding a box of supplies.
"Mrs. Moore, I need your help, and I want to give you a better job," I told her walking up to her. She huffed and looked at me raising an eyebrow.
"I'm a little busy here, what do you need," she said looking annoyed.
"Well, I need you to be the secretary. Taking inventory, delivering messages, keep the keys. Stuff like that." I replied smirking at her.
"Are you in charge?" She asked, her eyebrows rising in surprise.
"Do you know how to run a post-zombie apocalyptic community?" I asked sarcastically.
"No..." she replied slowly.
"Then yes, now come on, I need you to appoint other people jobs while I'm busy. I'll come up with the teams for scavenging; you come up with the inner-workings of the camp. Your authority will be like me telling them to do it myself. I'll be taking a certain amount of people out and back. You give them jobs when we come back, but any time that I need them they must come with me. No exceptions." Tim explained while walking back to the truck, "I need you to get everyone in the gym for an assembly of sorts so we can make announcements. I already have a security leader and team, no need for that. You come up with everything else."
"Wow, so composed, I'll get started on that right away, how long from now?" She asked writing everything down.
"I'll give you thirty minutes to get everything together." I replied smirking at her.
"Ok, I'll go now," She replied walking away.
I went in search of Katie and Gabby, walking up the stairs I went to the rear room and opened the door, I leaned against the door jamb as I watched them sleeping in the corner, Katie hugging Gabby as she slept soundly. A small smile reached my lips as I watched them. Gabby slept soundly as Katie awoke and feeling eyes on her she turned and looked at me, a sleepy smile crept on her lips. She pleaded with her eyes for me to come over and hold them so I did.
"I have to go have a meeting soon; everyone needs to be there, including you two." I whispered in her ear.
"mm-hum" she replied as she closed her eyes.
As they slept I held them closely, watching Gabby's chest rise and fall slowly, listening to her quiet snores as she slept. Twenty minutes later there was a knock on the door. I looked up and Alex was there.
"Everyone is ready," he said, and I nodded sitting up.
I woke Katie up and stood walking to the door and looked over the balcony seeing the crowd below. It wasn't as big as I thought it would be. Katie walked out of the room behind me with a tired looking Gabby in front of her, rubbing her eyes. I smirked and walked down the stairs toward the stage. I walked in front of everyone and nodded my head at everyone motioning for Bo and Alex to meet me on stage.
"Alright everyone thanks for coming, all of you are wondering what you're doing here and I'm here to tell you what's going on. I'm here to tell you how things are going to work around here. Things like who's in charge and split each job up individually so we can survive with structure. A place for our children to live without the horrors beyond these walls, now, the one everyone will answer to inside the walls is Mrs. Lynn Moore. She's my eyes and ears and hands inside. Outside for those of you going with me, answer to me, or Bo." I instructed pointing to each person as I mentioned them. "Mrs. Lynn will give you your jobs for those on the inside. Those of you one the outside, including the security team, will answer to the three of us on stage. There will be no debates about this. If you have problems keep them it to yourself. We don't want any troubles for the children, riots to break out for something ridiculous. We want to keep things as normal as possible for everyone. Now I'll call out a list of names and if your name is called come to the front please. You're dismissed." I finished off looking at Bo and fist bumped her.
"We're being lead by a bunch of kids? Is that what we've come to?" some guy in the back of the crowd yelled out.
"You want to lead a bunch of people into the town with a bunch of unstoppable undead creatures threatening to eat you alive?" Tim retorted back raising an eyebrow at him.
The man shut his mouth and looked down feeling ashamed.
"That's what I thought." Tim said smirking and turning back to Bo. The beautiful girl was about to burst out laughing at the whole situation. Alex smirked and shook his head at Tim. Eric and Mike could be heard guffawing from the back of the room.
Tim was handed a piece of paper from Bo and turned back to the crowd.
"Ok, I have that list of names and vehicles we'll need. I'll start naming you off and you'll walk over to the back of the room to those two men in the back... the loud ones."
The crowd chuckled quietly and listened for their names.
"Violet, Mariah, Patrick, Josh, Zane, Brittany, Ben, Austin, Aaron, Dwayne, Katie, and Isaac, meet with those guys in the back. I'll be back there soon. Everyone else goes ahead and be dismissed."
I walked off the stage and met up with the group and stopped, just looking at each of them. They each looked at me starting to be freaked out by it. I just looked at everyone and examined each of them individually.
"OK, so, we need to come up with a plan for our runs. We'll split up in teams, and give a leader for each one, I'll lead one, and I'll decide the other two that way there's no distress. Ok, we'll meet at the bus to have a talk with Alex's group, figure out gate details and such, synchronize our watches and stuff. Be back there in about an hour. Thank you guys, you're dismissed." I walked toward Katie and led her back upstairs where Gabby was waiting and smiled at the girl.
"Come here," I said, and the girl darted across the room to hug me, her small body almost knocking me off my feet.
